Okay, so today I decided to dive into something totally different – drawing a 1968 Dodge Challenger. I’ve always loved the look of classic muscle cars, and the Challenger is just iconic. I figured, why not give it a shot? I’m no artist, but hey, it’s all about having fun, right?

Gathering References
First things first, I needed some good pictures to work from. I scoured the internet, looking for photos of the ’68 Challenger from different angles. I wanted to get a good feel for the car’s lines and proportions. You know, really understand what makes it look so cool.
Starting the Sketch
I grabbed a pencil and a piece of paper, and just started lightly sketching the basic shape of the car. I focused on getting the overall silhouette right – the long hood, the sloping roofline, the chunky rear end. It looked pretty rough at first, more like a blob than a car, but I kept at it.
- I started with the wheels, trying to get them round and in the right place.
- Then, I worked on the body, slowly adding more detail.
- The front grille and headlights were a bit tricky, but I took my time and kept erasing and redrawing until I was somewhat satisfied.
Adding Details
Once I had the basic shape down, I started adding in the details. I drew the door lines, the side mirrors, and the distinctive chrome bumpers. This is where the car really started to come to * still looked more like a kid draw, but I can see the shape!
Refining and Shading
Next, I went back over the whole drawing, refining the lines and adding some shading to give it depth.I used the side of my pencil to create shadows under the car and in the wheel wells. I’m no expert at shading, but I think it added a bit of realism to the drawing.
The Finished Product
After a couple of hours of work, I finally had something that resembled a 1968 Dodge Challenger! It’s definitely not perfect, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It was a fun challenge, and I learned a lot about the car’s design in the process.

It’s kind of cool to see something you created from scratch, even if it’s just a simple drawing. Maybe I’ll try drawing another classic car next time!
