The Golden Bachelor: Gerry and Theresas Wedding Plans

Alright, let me tell ya ’bout Gerry and Theresa. Heard about ’em on the TV, them Golden Bachelor folks. Don’t watch much TV myself, too busy with the chickens and whatnot, but the neighbor lady, she’s got it on all the time. Loud as a rooster crowin’ at dawn, that TV is.

So, Gerry, this fella, he’s lookin’ for a wife. And Theresa, she’s a nice enough lookin’ woman, I guess. They met on that show, you know, the one where they all tryin’ to get hitched. Kinda like a barn dance, but with more cameras and fancy clothes.

Now, I ain’t one for fancy stuff. Give me a good pair of overalls and some sturdy boots any day. But these folks, they like the finer things, I reckon. They got engaged on TV, can you believe it? Right there for the whole world to see. Gerry got down on one knee, just like in them old movies. Theresa, she said yes, of course. Wouldn’t be much of a show if she didn’t, now would it?

  • Gerry and Theresa met on the Golden Bachelor.
  • They got engaged on TV.
  • Their wedding was a big deal.

And the weddin’, oh boy, that was somethin’ else. They had it at a fancy place, La Quinta somethin’ or other, out in California. Sounded like a palace to me. Probably got more rooms than my whole henhouse. And they had it on TV too! Live, they said. Like watchin’ a parade or somethin’.

The whole thing was a big to-do. Their kids were even involved, helpin’ with the plannin’ and all. That’s nice, I guess. Family’s important, you know. Even if they are on TV. My own kids, they’re all grown up now, got their own families. Don’t see ’em much, but that’s life, ain’t it?

Gerry and Theresa, they exchanged vows, just like me and my old man did, way back when. Only difference is, nobody was watchin’ us except the preacher and a few stray cows. And we didn’t have no fancy rings. Just a simple gold band, worn smooth from years of workin’ the land.

Now, some folks say it’s all for show, this TV romance. Maybe it is, maybe it ain’t. I ain’t gonna judge. Love’s a funny thing. Sometimes it hits you like a bolt of lightnin’, sometimes it grows slow and steady like a corn stalk in the summer sun. And sometimes, it plays out on national television for all the world to see.

The important thing is, they seemed happy, Gerry and Theresa. Smilin’ and laughin’ and holdin’ hands. That’s what matters, ain’t it? Happiness. Don’t matter if you find it on a TV show or in a cornfield. Just gotta grab onto it when you can.

This whole thing happened fast, too. They got engaged and then, boom, a few weeks later, they’re gettin’ hitched. Reminds me of when my sister ran off with that fella from the next town over. Didn’t waste no time, those two. Some folks like to take things slow, some folks like to jump right in. Guess Gerry and Theresa are the jumpin’ in kind.

January 4th, that’s when the weddin’ was. Right after New Year’s. Most folks are still recoverin’ from the holidays then, but not these two. They were busy sayin’ their “I do’s” in front of the whole country. Must’ve been nerve-wrackin’, all them cameras and lights. Me, I’d rather face a stampede of cows than a crowd like that.

So, that’s the story of Gerry and Theresa, as far as I know it. The Golden Bachelor and his bride. Hope they make a go of it. Marriage ain’t easy, no matter how you meet or where you get hitched. Takes hard work and a whole lotta patience. But if they stick together, they might just make it. Just like me and my old man did, all them years ago.

And the people, they just love watchin’ this stuff, don’t they? Makes me wonder what folks did for fun before TV. Probably sat around and gossiped about their neighbors, just like they do now, only without the fancy pictures. Some things never change, I guess. People are people, no matter how you slice it. We all want love, we all want happiness, and we all want a good story to tell. And Gerry and Theresa, they sure gave us one heck of a story.
