Well now, let me tell ya ’bout this castle thing, the one they say costs a whole heap of money, like 4.5 million dollars or somethin’. That’s a lot of chickens, let me tell ya! I ain’t never seen that much money in my life.
They say this castle, it’s in a place called Sagle, ID. Don’t know where that is, sounds fancy. This place ain’t no small shack neither, they say it’s 8,000 square feet! Big enough to lose your way in, I reckon. I mean, think about it, 8,000 square feet… that’s bigger than my whole darn farm, house, barn, and chicken coop put together! They call it a “one-of-a-kind” castle home, guess that means there ain’t nothin’ like it nowhere else.
Now, I heard tell there’s other castles you can buy too. Expensive ones, real expensive. Like this French castle, been around since the 12th century! Can you imagine? That’s older than my grandma’s grandma! They call it Chteau d’Armainvilliers, sounds like somethin’ you’d choke on if you tried to say it fast. Bet it’s got a whole lotta history, though, probably seen more things than old Mr. Henderson down the road, and he’s seen a lot, let me tell ya.
Then there’s this woman, calls herself a Lady somethin’-or-other. She’s got a Scottish castle and she’s sellin’ it for 5 million! Five million! That’s even more chickens! She had big dreams for that place, wanted to make it all modern and fancy, but I guess she changed her mind. She’s puttin’ the whole shebang, the castle, the keep, and even the outbuildings, on the market. And it comes with 25 acres of land! That’s enough space to raise a whole herd of cattle, or maybe a thousand chickens… though I don’t know why anyone would want that many chickens.
- So, you got this Sagle castle, 4.5 million.
- Then you got that old French one. Bet that costs a pretty penny.
- And the Scottish one, 5 million! Land and all!
Makes you wonder who’s got that kind of money, doesn’t it? Must be them city folk, with their fancy jobs and their fancy ways. I sure ain’t never gonna see that kinda money. I’m happy with my little farm and my chickens. Though, a castle wouldn’t be too bad… if it came with someone to clean it, that is. And a bigger chicken coop, of course!
Speaking of money, I heard tell about some fellas who were givin’ away a whole bunch of it, 4.5 million dollars, just like that castle! But it turns out, somethin’ wasn’t right about where that money came from. They gave it to some group, tied to somethin’ called “effective altruism.” Don’t rightly know what that is, sounds complicated. But the whole thing went belly up, it seems. Folks these days, always gettin’ into trouble with money.
Anyway, back to the castles. I seen pictures of ‘em sometimes, in them magazines at the doctor’s office. They’re big and grand, with stone walls and tall towers. Some of ‘em even got them moat things around ‘em, filled with water. Guess that’s to keep out the riff-raff, or maybe the alligators, I don’t know. Seems like a lot of trouble to go through just to have a big house, if you ask me. But I guess if you got the money, you can do whatever you want.
So, there you have it. A castle for 4.5 million, and some other fancy ones too. More money than most folks will ever see in their lifetime. Makes you think, doesn’t it? Makes me think I need to go feed my chickens. They’re probably squawkin’ their heads off by now.
But then again, maybe one day I’ll win the lottery and buy myself one of them castles. Nah, probably not. But a girl can dream, can’t she? And even if I can’t buy a castle, I can still look at the pictures and imagine what it would be like to live in one. It’s like those stories my grandma used to tell me, full of kings and queens and grand adventures. Maybe that’s why people like castles so much, because they remind us of those stories, of a world where anything is possible. And even if we never live in a castle, we can always have our own little kingdom, right here where we are.
And that’s all I got to say about that.
