Lazaro Hernandez: Who is he & whats his story?

Alright, let me tell you about this fella, Lazaro Hernandez. Don’t know much about fancy fashion, mind you, but I heard some things. Seems like he and some other guy, Jack somethin’-or-other, started this whole thing, Proen…Proenza… shoot, somethin’ like that, back in the early two-thousands.

Lazaro Hernandez: Who is he & whats his story?

Now, I ain’t no city slicker, but even I know that’s a long time ago. These two fellas, they met in school, learnin’ about design. Parsons, they called it. Sounds fancy, huh? Like somethin’ you’d find in a big city, all glass and steel. They must’ve been real smart, ’cause they started this company right outta school, almost like a farm boy startin’ his own field.

This Proenza Schouler, that’s what they named it. They make clothes for women, and bags and stuff. I hear it’s real high-end, the kind of stuff you see in them magazines at the grocery store checkout. You know, the ones with the skinny ladies and the clothes that cost more than my old truck.

  • They started this brand in 2002, imagine that! I was still milkin’ cows back then.
  • And they even won some big award, somethin’ called the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund Award. Sounds important, I guess.
  • They make all sorts of things, dresses, purses, all them fancy lady things.

They say you can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl. Well, I reckon it’s the same for these boys. They might be makin’ fancy clothes for city folk now, but I bet they still remember where they came from, even if it was just a fancy school.

These two, Jack and Lazaro, they been workin’ together all this time, like a good team of horses pullin’ a plow. They even been datin’ since college, can you believe it? That’s a long time to be stickin’ with someone, especially in that fast-paced city life. Must be somethin’ special there, like a good, strong rope that don’t break.

Luxury womenswear, they call it. That means it’s expensive, real expensive. I don’t know why anyone would pay that much for a dress, but I guess some folks got more money than sense. Still, gotta give ’em credit, these boys built somethin’ from nothin’, just like a farmer buildin’ a barn from the ground up.

Lazaro Hernandez: Who is he & whats his story?

They started as just two young guys with a dream, and now they’re big shots in the fashion world. It’s like that story about the little engine that could, always chuggin’ along until it made it up the hill. They faced a bunch of other brands in the fashion scene in 2003 but kept goin’. That takes grit, somethin’ I know a thing or two about.

Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, they’re the designers, the brains behind the operation. They’re the ones drawin’ the pictures and pickin’ out the fabrics. I bet they argue sometimes, like any good partners do, but at the end of the day, they get the job done. It’s like when my husband and I used to argue about plantin’ the corn, but we always got it in the ground somehow.

And they sell this stuff all over the world, I hear. From New York City to Paris, France. Imagine that, clothes made by two fellas who met in school bein’ worn by ladies all over the globe. It’s a small world, ain’t it? Smaller than my old town, that’s for sure.

So, that’s about all I know about Lazaro Hernandez and his partner. They seem like hard-workin’ fellas, even if they do make clothes I wouldn’t be caught dead in. They took an idea and turned it into somethin’ big, and that’s somethin’ to be proud of, no matter where you come from. Whether you’re milkin’ cows or designin’ dresses, it’s all about puttin’ in the effort and makin’ somethin’ of yourself.

Fashion design, it ain’t my cup of tea, but I can appreciate a good work ethic when I see it. And these two boys, they got it in spades. They’re like a couple of prize-winning bulls, strong and determined. And that, I reckon, is somethin’ worth talkin’ about.
