Okay, so yesterday, I decided to start this little project with my friends. We’re calling it “Reading Between Friends.” Basically, we all grab the same book, and after each chapter, we hop on a group chat to discuss. But it’s not just about what happened in the chapter – we’re trying to dig deeper, you know?

So, first, we had to pick a book. That took a while because we all have such different tastes. We went back and forth – someone suggested a thriller, then a romance, then some historical fiction. Finally, we settled on a mystery novel. It seemed like a good middle ground, something we could all get into.
Then, we set some ground rules. We decided to read one chapter a day. That’s it. No rushing ahead. And after each chapter, we’d all jump into our group chat and share our thoughts. But not just “Oh, this happened, then that happened.” We wanted to talk about the underlying stuff, the things that weren’t directly said.
We started yesterday, and it was actually pretty cool. After the first chapter, everyone started sharing their theories. Like, there’s this one character who seems super shady, but the book doesn’t outright say he’s bad. We were all trying to pick up on little clues, like the way he talked or the way other characters reacted to him. It was like being a detective, but way more fun because we’re doing it together.
Here’s how we did it:
- Read the chapter: Pretty straightforward. We each read the chapter on our own time.
- Take notes: While reading, I jotted down anything that seemed important or weird. Like, maybe a character said something that seemed off, or there was a description of a place that felt symbolic.
- Share in the group chat: This is where it got interesting. Everyone started sharing their notes and thoughts. “Did anyone else think it was weird when she said that?” or “I think this place represents his inner turmoil.” Stuff like that.
- Discuss and debate: We’d go back and forth, building on each other’s ideas. Sometimes we agreed, sometimes we didn’t. But it was all in good fun, and it really made us think.
It’s only been one day, but I’m already hooked. It’s amazing how much more you notice when you’re actively looking for hidden meanings. And it’s way more fun to do it with friends. We’re not just reading the book; we’re kind of experiencing it on a whole new level.

What’s Next?
We’re going to keep this up for the whole book. I’m excited to see how our theories evolve as we get further into the story. I have a feeling there are going to be some major twists and turns, and I can’t wait to unpack them all with my friends. It’s like we’ve created our own little book club, but with a focus on really reading between the lines. I think this is gonna be a fun ride, and it’s something you could easily do with your friends, too. I’d recommend it. I’ll keep you posted on how it’s going with another update.
