Okay, so yesterday I tried to take some Christmas photos with a royal family theme, and let me tell you, it was quite an experience! I’ve always been fascinated by those elegant portraits of the British royals, especially during the holidays. You know, the ones with Queen Elizabeth, Princess Diana, and now King Charles and Queen Camilla.

First, I gathered my “royal subjects,” which in my case were my family and a couple of close friends. I told them we were going for a coordinated color scheme, just like the real royals often do. I spent a good amount of time picking out outfits that looked somewhat regal but still festive. It wasn’t easy, but we managed to put together a decent look.
Then came the setup. I wanted to recreate that classic “walk to church” vibe that the royal family does every Christmas. It’s such a beloved ritual, right? I found a nice path in a nearby park that I thought would work well as a backdrop. Getting everyone to walk in a dignified manner while also looking natural for the camera was a challenge, I must say. We did a few takes, with me shouting instructions like, “More stately!” and “Pretend you’re waving to adoring crowds!”
I also tried to get some shots that mimicked the feel of King Charles’s first Christmas speech. I set up a cozy, festive scene indoors, complete with a Christmas tree and some warm lighting. I had one of my friends, who kinda resembles Charles, sit in a big armchair and pretend to give a speech. We even added a little crown for effect! It was a bit silly, but we had a good laugh.
The whole process was a lot of work, but it was also a ton of fun. I spent hours editing the photos, trying to get that perfect royal look. I played around with filters and lighting, aiming for a classic, timeless feel. It was a bit of a learning curve, but I think I managed to capture some decent shots.
In the end, I realized that royal family Christmas photography is no easy feat. It takes a lot of planning, coordination, and a good eye for detail. Plus, a whole lot of patience! But it was a really fun and unique way to celebrate the holidays. And hey, now I have some memorable photos to look back on, even if my family isn’t exactly royalty.
