Okay, so today I decided to dive into something totally new – Baek Jong-won’s recipes for kids! I’ve seen him on TV, whipping up amazing dishes, and I’ve always thought, “Could I actually make that?” Especially something my picky eaters would enjoy. Well, today was the day to find out.

First, I searched for “Paik Jong-won children recipes.” I figured there had to be something out there aimed at the younger crowd. And yep, I found a few blogs and videos, mostly in Korean, but thankfully, Google Translate is my best friend.
Finding the Right Recipe
I scrolled through a bunch of options. Some looked way too complicated, others had ingredients I’d never heard of. I needed something simple, something I could actually pull off with what I had in my pantry.
Finally, I stumbled upon a recipe for a simple egg fried rice. It looked easy enough, and I figured, “Hey, who doesn’t like fried rice?” Plus, it seemed like a good way to sneak in some veggies.
Getting My Ingredients Together
I checked my fridge and pantry. Rice? Check. Eggs? Check. Some leftover veggies? Check. Soy sauce? Check. I was good to go! This was already feeling less intimidating than I’d expected.
- Cooked Rice
- 2 Eggs
- Chopped Carrot
- Chopped Onion
- Soy Sauce
- Sesame oil
Cooking Time!
I followed the video, best as possible with my auto-translate, chopping up the veggies super small (gotta hide them, you know?). Then, I scrambled the eggs in a pan, added the rice and veggies, and drizzled in some soy sauce and a touch of sesame oil for that extra flavor.

It actually smelled pretty good! I was getting a little excited at this point. Could this be a win? Could I actually get my kids to eat something new and (relatively) healthy?
The Taste Test
Okay, moment of truth. I served up the fried rice, and… they actually ate it! My youngest even asked for seconds! I’m calling this a major success. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a start. And it definitely boosted my confidence in the kitchen.
This whole thing taught me that even seemingly complicated recipes can be broken down and made doable. And that sometimes, the simplest dishes are the biggest hits. I’ll definitely be trying more of Baek Jong-won’s recipes in the future. Maybe I’ll even tackle something a little more challenging next time!
