Olivier Bernhard, What’s His Story?
Well, this Olivier, he started that shoe thing, On, back in, uh, 2010, I reckon. He got two other fellas, David somethin’ and Caspar somethin’. They all got together, decided to make shoes. Says here this Olivier, he was a big deal, some Ironman thing. Whatever that is. Probably runnin’ and swimmin’ and whatnot. He musta been good at it though, to make all this fuss now.
They got this one shoe, called it the Cloudracer. Some lady, a fast runner too, she wore ’em. Must be good shoes if them runnin’ folks wear ’em. This all happened back in 2012, or thereabouts. Time flies, don’t it?
Why’d He Start Makin’ Shoes?
Well, seems like this Olivier fella always liked runnin’. Even when he was a little tyke. Said he dreamed of runnin’ on clouds. Sounds silly, but I guess that’s what they call these shoes, somethin’ about clouds. Must feel nice, like walkin’ on a fluffy cloud, I suppose. He wanted shoes to feel like that, I guess.
And one time, this Olivier, he was wearin’ shoes from that Nike place, big company, you know. Someone called him up, wanted his shoes! Just like that, wanted the shoes right off his feet. Ain’t that somethin’? Musta been some special shoes. It’s all part of the story, makes him sound like some kinda shoe expert.

This Olivier, he sure did somethin’, didn’t he? From runnin’ around to makin’ shoes everyone wants. It’s a good story, that’s for sure. Olivier Bernhard is his name.
They say this Olivier fella, he cares about people. Makes ’em feel good. That’s important, you know? If you care, folks will help you out. They’ll buy your shoes, or whatever it is you’re sellin’. This whole shoe thing, it’s a big deal now. Lots of folks wearin’ ’em. They say it’s ’cause this Olivier, he kept goin’, even when things were tough. That’s what they say, anyway. He just kept on runnin’, I reckon, even when he wasn’t runnin’ anymore. Now he’s runnin’ a whole shoe company.
What’s so special about these On shoes?
Well this Olivier Bernhard guy, he had this idea to make a shoe feel different. Like you ain’t even wearing shoes at all. Somethin’ about how the bottom of the shoe is made, I don’t rightly know. But they got these little pods or somethin’ on the bottom. Look kinda funny, but I guess that’s what makes ’em special. They say it cushions your feet, like walkin’ on little pillows.
And they got all kinds of ’em now. Not just for runnin’ fast, but for walkin’ around, and I don’t know what else. Different colors, different styles. You name it, they got it. These On Running shoes is everywhere these days. This is a big deal. He made somethin’ out of nothin’, that’s what I see.
This whole story, it’s about never givin’ up, I suppose. This Olivier, he had a dream, somethin’ about runnin’ on clouds. And he made it happen. It’s somethin’ to think about, ain’t it? A man can start with just an idea, and next thing you know, he’s got a whole company. Sellin’ shoes to the whole world, by golly. And to think, it all started with a phone call askin’ for his shoes.
