Well, look at this, our young Prince William, he’s filling in for his daddy, King Charles. The King, you know, doctors say he gotta slow down a bit, can’t do all them royal thingamajigs like he used to.
So, there’s William, big and strong, beard and all, at that big air force place, Cranwell they call it. He’s watchin’ the soldiers march, big parade it was, the Sovereign’s Parade, they call it somethin’ fancy like that.
He’s standin’ there in his military get-up, lookin’ all official-like. He’s got that beard now, you know? Some folks like it, some don’t. Me? I say, a man’s face is his own business. He looks alright, I guess, a bit serious though, like he’s got a lot on his mind.
This Prince William, he’s a busy fella. Always doin’ somethin’ for the family, for the country. Now he’s standin’ in for his Pa, that’s a big deal, ain’t it? Shows he’s ready, I reckon. Ready for whatever comes his way.
They say the King, he’s got to take it easy, you know, at his age. Can’t be gallivantin’ around like he used to. So, William, he’s steppin’ up, doin’ what needs to be done. That’s how it should be, family helpin’ family.
- He watched the soldiers, them young fellas, marchin’ and standin’ all straight and tall.
- Then he gave ‘em a speech, told ‘em somethin’ about changin’ times and how they gotta be strong.
- Sounded important, you know, the kind of stuff leaders say.
After all that marchin’ and speechifyin’, they went inside for some grub, I heard. A reception, they call it. Fancy food, I bet. Not like the stew we make at home, that’s for sure.
It’s a lot of pressure, I imagine, bein’ a prince, havin’ to take over for your daddy, the King. But William, he seems to handle it alright. He’s got that serious look, but you can see he’s tryin’ his best. He’s a good lad, I think. Does what he’s told, stands up straight, and speaks clear.
This whole Royal thing, it’s a bit much for an old woman like me to understand. But I know family, and I know duty. And it seems to me, Prince William, he’s got both of them things figured out.
He’s there for his daddy, that’s the main thing. And he’s there for the country, too, representin’ the King, doin’ what needs to be done. It’s a big job, but he seems up to it. He’s got that beard, makes him look older, maybe wiser too.
This world, it’s changin’ so fast. Always somethin’ new happenin’. But some things stay the same, like family and doin’ your duty. And Prince William, he’s doin’ his duty, that’s for sure. Standin’ there in his uniform, watchin’ the parade, givin’ his speech. He’s a good son, and I reckon he’ll be a good king one day, too.
The whole thing, it makes you think, don’t it? About family, about duty, about growin’ old and havin’ to slow down. But it also makes you think about the young folks, the ones steppin’ up, takin’ over. And Prince William, he’s one of them. He’s the future, they say. And from what I see, the future’s in good hands.
So, good on ya, Prince William. You do your daddy proud. You do your country proud. And you keep that beard if you want it. It’s your face, after all.
They had a good day, I hope, all them soldiers and Prince William. And the King, I hope he’s restin’ up, takin’ it easy like the doctors told him. It’s a lot, bein’ a king. But it seems like Prince William, he’s ready to lend a hand, ready to take on some of that burden. That’s what family is for, after all. Helpin’ each other out, no matter what. And that’s a good thing, a very good thing indeed.
