Alright, alright, let’s talk about this fella, Gabriel Moses. Never heard of him before, but the young’uns told me he’s a big shot photographer and movie maker. Fancy that!
They say he’s a “rising star,” like one of them shiny things in the night sky, you know? Only this fella, he ain’t shinin’ up there, he’s shinin’ down here on Earth with his pictures and movies. Sounds like a busy bee to me, always buzzin’ around, takin’ photos for all them big-name companies. Adidas, you know, them shoes the kids like? And Dior, that fancy stuff the rich folks wear. Apple too, them phone makers, always up to somethin’. And Burberry, another one of them highfalutin’ brands. He’s workin’ with ‘em all, seems like.
- Big-Time Brands: He works with Adidas, Dior, Apple, Burberry, and a whole bunch more. He must be good, right?
- From South London: This fella, he comes from South London. Don’t know much about that place, but I hear it’s a big city.
- Nigerian Roots: And he’s got that Nigerian blood in him, like my neighbor’s grandson. Proud of his roots, they say. That’s good, that is. Always remember where you come from, I say.
Now, they call this here thing a “monograph.” Sounds like somethin’ the doctor would give ya, but apparently, it’s a book full of his pictures. Fashion pictures, they tell me. You know, them skinny gals and fellas wearin’ clothes that don’t look like they’d keep ya warm in the winter. But I guess that’s what they like these days.
Photography and Film, That’s His Game. He ain’t just snappin’ pictures, though. He’s makin’ movies too. Like them things you see on the TV, only, I reckon, his are a bit fancier. Probably got them special cameras and lights and all that jazz. Must be a whole lotta work, but hey, that’s how you get to be a “rising star,” ain’t it?
I seen some of them fashion pictures once, in a magazine my granddaughter left lyin’ around. Folks lookin’ all serious and pouty, standin’ in strange poses. Not my cup of tea, to be honest. I like pictures of happy folks, families smilin’ and babies laughin’. But I guess there’s room for all kinds of pictures in this world, huh? And if this Gabriel fella is makin’ a livin’ takin’ pictures of skinny folks in fancy clothes, well, good for him, I say. It takes all sorts to make a world, as my old pappy used to say.
So, this Gabriel Moses, he’s a photographer and a filmmaker. A “rising star” they call him. Workin’ with big brands, comin’ from South London, with Nigerian roots. And he’s got a book out, a “monograph,” full of his fashion pictures. Sounds like he’s doin’ alright for himself, this fella. Good on him, I say. As long as he’s happy and not causin’ no trouble, that’s all that matters. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll even see one of his movies. Though I doubt it’ll be about chickens or cows, which is more my speed.
He must be a smart young fella, all that technology and such. I can barely figure out how to use this here cell phone my grandson gave me. But these young’uns, they grow up with all this stuff. It’s like second nature to them. And this Gabriel, he’s using it to make art, they say. Well, art or not, it’s keepin’ him busy, and that’s a good thing. Keeps you outta trouble, work does. Idle hands are the devil’s workshop, that’s what my mama always said.
