Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get into this whole “Dodie Rosekrans” thing for a while now. I kept seeing her name pop up, and her style is just…wow. So, I finally decided to dive in and see what I could learn and maybe even try to recreate, in my own way, of course.

Getting Started – Finding Inspiration
First, I just did a bunch of image searches. You know, just to get a feel for her whole vibe. I spent, like, an hour just scrolling and saving pictures that caught my eye. I noticed a lot of bold colors, interesting textures, and a real mix of old and new.
Gathering My Materials(and making a mess)
Next, I raided my craft supplies.I have to admit, the room quickly became a disaster zone.
- I pulled out all my fabric scraps – velvets, silks, even some old lace curtains I’d been hoarding.
- I grabbed my paints – acrylics, watercolors, even some gold leaf I’d bought on a whim.
- Then I dug up my beads, sequins, and anything else that sparkled or looked remotely interesting.
The Experimentation Phase (aka Playtime)
This is where things got really fun, and a little chaotic. I basically just started playing around.
- I layered different fabrics together.
- I splattered paint on some canvas.
- I even tried to glue some beads onto an old picture frame.
Honestly, some of it looked awful at first. But I kept going, just trying different combinations and seeing what worked. I kept those inspiration pictures nearby, using the color and texture as my guide.
The “Aha!” Moment
After a few hours of messing around, I finally started to create something I liked. It was a small * wasn’t perfect, but it had that “Dodie” feel – a little bit vintage, a little bit glamorous, and totally unique.

What I Learned(and what’s next)
This whole process taught me that it’s okay to just experiment and not have a clear plan from the start. Sometimes, the best creations come from just playing around and seeing where your materials take you. I’m definitely going to keep exploring this style, maybe try some bigger projects next time. Maybe even some furniture!
