Hey there, y’all! Let’s yak a bit about them… what do they call ’em… lesbian films? Yeah, them movies about gals who like gals. I ain’t no fancy movie critic or nothin’, but I’ve seen a few things on that there TV box, and some of them stick with ya, you know?
What are these lesbian films anyway? Well, they’re just stories, same as any other movie, but ‘bout women fallin’ in love with other women. Nothin’ too complicated ‘bout it. Some are happy, some are sad, some make ya scratch yer head, just like life, I reckon. I heard some folks call ’em “queer movies” or “LGBTQ+” stuff. Fancy words, if ya ask me. It’s just love, plain and simple, even if it ain’t the kind of love I know.
Now, I ain’t seen a whole heap of these films, mind you. But I remember watchin’ one on the TV a while back, can’t recall the name now, somethin’ about a lady painter and her… well, her lady friend. It was mighty pretty, all them colors and such. And the way them two looked at each other, it was clear as day they were smitten. Made me think of my ol’ man and me back in the day, though we weren’t no ladies, haha! It was just… love, ya know? Pure and simple.
- Some of these movies are real tearjerkers, I tell ya. Seen one where the gals had to hide their love from everyone, and it just broke my heart. Reminded me of them stories my grandma used to tell ‘bout folks back in the old days havin’ to keep secrets. Nobody should have to hide who they love, that’s what I say.

I heard tell there’s all sorts of lesbian films out there. Some are old, some are new. Some are about young gals, some are about older folks. Just like them regular love stories, I suppose. I even heard there’s a documentary about some old lesbian couple who finally got married after keepin’ their love a secret for years. Can ya imagine? All them years, hidin’ who you are. Breaks your heart, it does.
Why watch lesbian films? Well, why not? If it’s a good story, it’s a good story, ain’t it? Don’t matter if it’s about a man and a woman, two men, or two women. Love is love, and a good story is a good story. And maybe, just maybe, watchin’ these movies can help folks understand each other a little better. We all got different lives, different experiences. But we’re all just folks tryin’ to find our way in this world, tryin’ to find someone to love.
Now, some folks might get all riled up about these movies. They might say it ain’t natural or it ain’t right. But I say, live and let live. As long as folks ain’t hurtin’ nobody, who are we to judge? Love is a powerful thing, it can change the world, I reckon. And if two women find love with each other, well, that’s their business. It ain’t hurtin’ me none.
I ain’t no expert on best lesbian movies or nothin’, but I do know this: love is love. And a good story is a good story. So if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ different to watch, give one of them lesbian films a try. You might be surprised. You might laugh, you might cry, you might even learn somethin’. And who knows, you might even find yourself rootin’ for them gals to get their happy ever after, just like I did.
