Well, let me tell ya ’bout this gal, Chappell Roan. Heard tell she was singin’ at some big music shindig in New York City. They call it the Governor’s Ball, fancy name, ain’t it?
Now, this Chappell, she’s a real firecracker, I tell ya. She goes and dresses up like that big green lady out in the harbor – the Statue of Liberty! Yeah, the one with the torch and all. Imagine that! Chappell Roan, dressed up like a statue. What a hoot!
She wasn’t just singin’ any old songs, neither. She sang her hits, like that “HOT TO…” song. Folks seem to like it. But the real kicker was what she said. She was talkin’ to the White House, y’know, where the president lives.
- She said they asked her to sing for some Pride thing.
- But she told ’em, “We want liberty, justice, and freedom for all!”
- And she ain’t gonna sing for ’em until they give it to us.
Good for her, I say! Standin’ up for what’s right. She even read that poem, the one on the statue, about the tired and poor folks. But she added her own bit. Said it means freedom for the trans folks and freedom for the women too. Freedom for everybody, that’s what she’s sayin’.
Some folks say she was near naked up there on stage. Well, I ain’t seen it myself, but sounds like she was makin’ a statement, that’s for sure. And people are talkin’ about it. They say she’s “the moment.” Whatever that means. Young folks these days with their fancy words.
This Chappell, she ain’t afraid to speak her mind. She turned down that White House invite, said all she wanted to do was yell. And yell she did, in her own way. With her songs and her costume and her words. Chappell Roan made a bold statement, that’s what they’re sayin’.
I reckon she got them city folks thinkin’. And that’s somethin’. It ain’t easy to get folks to listen these days. But she done it. Dressed up like a statue and singin’ her heart out. Good for her, I say. Good for her.
Now, I don’t know much about this music festival or these Pride things. But I know right from wrong. And it sounds like this Chappell gal, she knows it too. She wants everybody to be free, and she ain’t afraid to say so. That’s what I call spunk. Chappell Roan’s got spunk, that’s for sure.
This whole thing with the White House and the Pride event, it’s got folks stirred up. Chappell, she just wanted to make sure everyone is treated fair. And she used her platform, her singin’ and her get-up, to say it loud and clear. Liberty and justice for all, just like the statue says. That’s what Chappell Roan was singin’ about. And that’s something worth hearing.
So, next time you see that Statue of Liberty, you might just think of Chappell Roan. And you might think about what she said about freedom. It’s somethin’ we all need to remember, ain’t it? Freedom for everybody, no matter who they are or where they come from. That’s the American way, or at least it ought to be.
Anyways, that’s what I heard about Chappell Roan and her Statue of Liberty getup. Made quite a stir, she did. And good for her, I say. Standing up for what’s right. That’s what matters.
