Okay, so today I decided to play around with my wardrobe and focus on a single color: blue. I’ve got a bunch of blue stuff, from shirts to jeans to even a couple of scarves, and I wanted to see how many different outfits I could put together using just that one color.
First, I pulled out everything blue from my closet and drawers. I laid it all out on my bed. It was quite a pile! I had:
- A dark navy blue sweater
- A light blue button-down shirt
- A pair of medium-wash blue jeans
- A pair of dark blue chinos
- A teal blue t-shirt
- A blue and white striped shirt
- A light blue denim jacket
- Two blue scarves – one solid, one patterned
Trying Different Combos
I started by trying the most basic combination: the light blue button-down with the medium-wash jeans. It was okay, pretty classic, but maybe a little boring. I added the denim jacket, and that made it a bit more interesting, a kind of “denim on denim” look, it’s acceptable.
Next, I swapped the button-down for the teal blue t-shirt. This was more casual, and I liked the different shades of blue together. I tried it with the dark blue chinos too, which dressed it up a little.
Then I got a little more adventurous. I tried the navy blue sweater with the dark blue chinos. It was definitely a darker look, good for a cooler day. I added the solid blue scarf to break it up a bit.
I played around with the blue and white striped shirt, layering it under the denim jacket and also under the navy sweater. The stripes added a nice pop of pattern, and I was surprised at how well it worked with both.

The Final Result
After a good hour of mixing and matching, I managed to come up with at least five or six different outfits that I actually liked. It’s pretty cool, and I discovered some new combinations I’d never thought of before! I realized that I want more blue clothes for next season.
This was a fun little experiment. And, I think it’s helped me appreciate the versatility of a single color in my wardrobe. I would try other color next time!
