Okay, so I’ve been obsessed with 80s fashion lately, especially the dresses. I decided to try and recreate some iconic looks. It was a whole journey, let me tell you!

Digging for Inspiration
First, I spent hours, and I mean hours, scrolling through pictures and watching old movies. Think “Pretty in Pink,” “The Breakfast Club,” anything with big hair and bold colors.
The Hunt Begins
Then, the real fun started: thrifting! I hit up all my local vintage stores and even some online shops. My goal? Find those key pieces – the puffy sleeves, the bright patterns, maybe even some shoulder pads.
- I was lucky to Find a neon pink dress, in my size.
- And A dress with huge shoulder pads, I remove shoulder pads immediately.
- I found a couple of dresses that were almost right, but needed some serious alterations.
Make Some Changes
This is where my (very basic) sewing skills came into play. I took in a waist here, shortened a hem there. One dress had this weird ruffle that I just ripped off completely. Don’t judge! It looked way better without it.
My sewing machine and I became best friends during this whole process,Seriously.
Accessorize, Accessorize, Accessorize!
No 80s look is complete without the right accessories. I dug out some chunky jewelry, found some awesome colorful belts, and even considered a perm (but chickened out). Big earrings are a MUST, though.

Showtime!
Finally, I Put them all, try some different accessories. And, snapped some photos.
It was so much fun diving into this style. Honestly, it was a blast from the past, and I’m already planning my next 80s-inspired project!
