Okay, so I wanted to figure out this whole Amazon “dress code” thing. I mean, I’ve heard things, seen things, but I wanted the real deal. So I started digging.

Dress Code for Amazon: Get the Look Right (Warehouse & Office)

My Little Research Journey

First, I checked out some online forums. You know, the usual places where people complain or brag about work. Lots of mixed messages there! Some people said it’s super casual, others said they saw folks in suits. Total chaos.

Then, I decided to go straight to the source. I looked at Amazon’s official career pages. And…well, it’s pretty vague. They talk about a “comfortable” environment, but that could mean anything, right?

So, I got a little sneaky. I started watching videos of Amazon employees, like those “day in the life” things. I figured seeing what people actually wear would be more helpful than reading some corporate policy.

What I Saw

  • Lots of jeans. Like, a LOT of jeans. Dark ones, light ones, ripped ones… you name it.
  • T-shirts were everywhere. Plain ones, graphic tees, even band shirts.
  • Sneakers were the go-to footwear. I barely saw any dress shoes.
  • Some people wore hoodies. Hoodies! At work!
  • A few folks had button-down shirts, but they were usually untucked and casual.

My Conclusion (For Now)

It seems like Amazon is pretty relaxed about what you wear. I guess it really depends on your role and team. I mean, a software engineer probably has more leeway than someone in, say, legal. But overall, it’s way more casual than I expected. I’d say “business casual” is even pushing it. It’s more like “everyday casual.”

Of course, I’m still going to keep my eyes open. Maybe things are different in other offices or departments. But for now, I’m feeling pretty good about my jeans and t-shirt collection.
