Elenor Mustang: History, Specs, and Where to Find One

Elenor Mustang: History, Specs, and Where to Find One

Well now, let me tell you about this here Elenor Mustang, you know, the car from that movie. Folks keep talkin’ ‘bout it, so I figured I’d give ya my two cents, even though I ain’t no car expert or nothin’.

Elenor Mustang: History, Specs, and Where to Find One

First off, this Elenor thing, it ain’t just one car, ya hear? It’s kinda like sayin’ “them blue jeans,” there’s lots of ‘em. The real first one, they say it was a plain ol’ 1971 Mustang, but in the movie, it was supposed to be a 1973 Mach 1. Imagine that! Pretendin’ to be somethin’ it ain’t. Kinda like some folks I know!

Now, that first Elenor, it belonged to some fella named H.B. Halicki. He made the movie and did all the crazy drivin’ himself. Bless his heart, he ain’t with us no more. His wife, Denice, she owns the car now. She’s a nice lady, I reckon, lettin’ folks see it at that Petersen Museum in Los Angeles. That’s a long ways away from here, I tell ya.

  • Original Eleanor: 1971 Mustang SportsRoof pretending to be a 1973 Mach 1.
  • Remake Eleanor: A fancy 1967 Mustang, all fixed up and lookin’ spiffy.

Then they went and made another movie, a newer one, and that Elenor was different. This time it was a 1967 Mustang, but all tricked out, ya know? All shiny and new-lookin’. Not like somethin’ you’d see drivin’ around here, that’s for sure. Folks pay big money for them fancy cars, I hear. More money than I’ve ever seen in my life, I’d wager.

So, you got the old Elenor and the new Elenor. It’s like havin’ two grandkids, both named the same thing, but lookin’ and actin’ different. The old one, it’s got history, ya know? It was in that original movie, doin’ all them stunts. The new one, it’s purdy, but it ain’t the same. It’s like a store-bought pie compared to your grandma’s homemade one – good, but not quite as special.

Why all the fuss about this Elenor anyway? Well, I guess folks like the way it looks, all fast and powerful. And that movie, it made the car famous. People want what they see on the big screen, I guess. Same reason they all want them fancy clothes and such. Makes ‘em feel like movie stars, maybe.

Elenor Mustang: History, Specs, and Where to Find One

I tell ya, cars these days, they’re gettin’ too complicated for me. All them computers and gadgets, it’s enough to make your head spin. Back in my day, a car was a car. It got you from point A to point B, and that was that. Now they got GPS and backup cameras and all sorts of things I don’t even understand. Heck, I can barely figure out this here cell phone!

But this Elenor, it’s somethin’ special, even I can see that. It’s got that classic Mustang look, but with a little somethin’ extra. A little bit of movie magic, maybe. It’s like a piece of history, you know? Somethin’ that folks will remember for a long time. And that’s more than you can say for most things these days.

So, there you have it, my take on this here Elenor Mustang. Not much, I know, but it’s what this old woman thinks. If you ever get a chance to see one, go ahead and take a look. It’s a purdy car, ain’t gonna lie. But remember, there’s more to it than just shiny paint and a powerful engine. There’s a story there, too. And stories, well, they’re important. They’re what keep us connected to the past, and to each other.

And that’s all I gotta say about that.
