So, I kept seeing pictures of Kendall Jenner in that bathing suit everywhere online. You know the one. My first thought was, “Huh, maybe I could pull that off?” It looked simple enough in the pictures, right?

I actually spent a bit of time looking around. Went online, typed in the descriptions, scrolled through pages and pages. It’s funny how you start something simple, like looking for a swimsuit, and it turns into a whole thing.

My Little Search Attempt

Well, finding the exact one, or even something close, wasn’t straightforward. What you find is either super expensive designer stuff, or cheap knock-offs that you know will fall apart after one wash. I remember thinking back to my younger days, chasing every trend I saw in magazines.

It reminded me of this one time, years ago, I bought this jacket. Saw some celebrity wearing it, thought it was the coolest thing ever. Spent way too much money on it. Wore it twice. Why? Because:

  • It looked completely different on me than it did on the celebrity. Shocker, I know.
  • It was so uncomfortable. Like, ridiculously impractical for actual life.
  • It went out of style basically the next month.

That jacket just sat in my closet, mocking me, until I finally gave it away. A total waste.

Getting Real About Swimsuits

Looking at those Kendall Jenner suit pictures again after my little search, I started seeing it differently. It’s styled perfectly, on a professional model, with perfect lighting. That’s not real life, is it? Real life is chasing kids on the beach, actually swimming, or just trying to feel comfortable in your own skin.

Most of those trendy swimsuits, especially the really tiny or complicated ones? They aren’t built for movement. They’re built for Instagram photos. I learned that the hard way with a few purchases back in the day. One wrong move and you’re flashing everyone, or the weird tan lines you get are just ridiculous.

So, did I end up buying a Kendall Jenner-style bathing suit? Nope. My little trip down memory lane, sparked by that online trend, just reminded me what actually matters when I’m buying clothes, especially something like a swimsuit. It needs to be comfortable, it needs to actually work for swimming or lounging without constant adjusting, and honestly, I need to feel good in it based on my style, not just copy someone else’s photo moment.

It’s easy to get caught up in what everyone else is showing online. But my practice now is more about finding what genuinely works for me, my body, and my actual life. The whole Kendall Jenner suit thing just ended up being a good reminder of that. I went and found a nice, simple, comfy suit from a brand I trust instead. Much better use of my time and money, if you ask me.
