First off, I just jumped online. Typed in some basic stuff into the search bar. You probably know the kind of words. Got a bunch of those list articles, “Top 10 this,” “Top 20 that.” Clicked a few, scrolled through. It was alright, but kinda hollow. Just names and pictures, felt like homework.
That wasn’t really scratching the itch. I wanted to, like, discover them myself, not just read a list someone else made. So, I changed tactics.
- I started thinking back to movies I liked when I was younger. Stuff from the 90s, 80s, even earlier.
- Dug out some old DVDs and even some VHS tapes I still had boxed up. Yeah, I know, ancient tech.
- Started watching them again. This time, I wasn’t just following the plot. I was looking at the actors. Specifically, the women who were already adults back then.
- When someone caught my eye, I’d pause. Make a mental note. Sometimes I’d look them up right away, see what else they’d been in.
- Went down a few rabbit holes that way. You find one actress, look at her co-stars, find another one. It’s like a web.
What I Found Out (Besides Names)
It wasn’t really about just finding “pretty” faces, though that was the starting keyword in my head, I guess. It turned into something else. It was more about appreciating the whole package. The way they carried themselves, the look in their eyes. You can kinda see their life experience, you know? It’s different from the energy of younger actors.
Honestly, it made me realize how much solid talent gets kinda sidelined once they hit a certain age. Which is nuts. Some of these women were powerhouse actors in their day and still are, if you look.
And yeah, beauty changes. It’s not just about being young and flawless. Found myself really admiring the confidence, the style, the grace that comes with getting older. It’s a different kind of attractive. Hard to explain, but you know it when you see it.
So, that was my little exploration. Didn’t really “achieve” anything grand, no master list compiled or anything. But it definitely changed my perspective a bit when I’m watching stuff now. I notice more. I appreciate a wider range of talent and, yeah, beauty. It was a worthwhile way to spend some evenings, just digging through old films and finding some gems.
