Okay, so I saw this thing about Lauren Sanchez in Vogue and it got me thinking. You know, about how fashion is supposed to be for everyone but it kinda isn’t always, right?

So, I started digging around a bit. I mean, I’m no expert, but I do love clothes and I care that everyone feels good in what they’re wearing.
I started by just looking at what people were saying online. I scrolled through some forums, some comment sections, and I gotta say, it’s a mixed bag. Some folks are saying fashion is getting better, more inclusive. But then you got others saying it’s still way off. Especially for people who are, you know, not the “standard” size or who have disabilities.
Then I thought, “Okay, let me see what the actual brands are doing.” So I checked out a few websites, looked at their size ranges, and tried to see if they had models who were different sizes or had different abilities. Some do, which is cool. Like, they’re trying. But a lot of them, not so much. It’s still a lot of the same old, same old.
My Little Experiment
And this is where it gets interesting, at least for me. I decided to do this little experiment. I picked out a few outfits from different places, some that said they were inclusive, and some that didn’t. And I tried them on. Now, I’m not a model, but I’m not exactly a size zero either. I wanted to see how these clothes actually fit on a regular body.
Here’s what I found:

- First, the sizing is all over the place. One size in one store is totally different in another. It’s like, “Come on, people, can we get some consistency here?”
- Second, even when they have bigger sizes, the clothes are often just…bigger versions of the smaller sizes. They don’t always think about how bodies are shaped differently.
- Third, finding clothes that are actually designed for people with disabilities? That’s like finding a unicorn. It’s rare.
So, yeah, after all this, I realized it’s a long road. Fashion is trying, maybe, but it’s not quite there yet. There’re still people who’re overlooked. And that’s just not cool.
I guess what I’m trying to say is, we gotta keep talking about this stuff. We gotta keep pushing brands to do better. Because everyone deserves to feel good in their clothes, no matter their size or ability. It’s not just about looking good, it’s about feeling good, too. And that’s something we should all be able to have.
