Alright, let’s talk about getting to the Saint Laurent show during Paris Fashion Week this year, 2024. It wasn’t exactly straightforward, but totally worth the hassle.

Getting Started
First off, getting the invite felt like a small miracle. Just landed in my inbox one day. Didn’t expect it, honestly. So, step one was just processing that. Then, the real planning kicked in. Paris isn’t exactly next door for me.
Booking everything was the next big thing. Flights, hotel – you know the drill. Tried to find something not crazy expensive but still decent, which near fashion week is a joke, right? Spent a good few hours comparing sites, checking maps to see how far things were from the potential venue area. Locked it all down eventually.
The Outfit Drama
Then came the what to wear part. Man, this took longer than booking the trip. Felt like I tried on everything I owned. You see all these pictures online, everyone looks so effortlessly cool. Let me tell you, effort is involved. Lots of it.
- Pulled out jackets. Too much?
- Tried simpler stuff. Too boring?
- Asked a couple of friends. Got conflicting advice. Typical.
In the end, I just went with something dark, comfortable enough to stand around in, but hopefully sharp enough not to look totally out of place. Black trousers, a decent shirt, good jacket. Played it safe.
Getting There and The Wait
Flew into Paris. The usual airport shuffle, then getting into the city. Found my hotel, dropped my bags. Didn’t have much time to relax, really. Had to figure out how to get to the show venue. Used my phone map, double-checked the address. Decided on the Metro mostly, then a bit of walking.

Arrived maybe an hour early? Seemed like a good idea. Turns out, loads of people had the same thought. The scene outside was already buzzing. Lots of photographers, people dressed to the nines, security checking names. Found my check-in spot, showed my invite on my phone, got inside the waiting area.
Waiting felt like ages. Just standing around, watching people, trying to act cool. You see familiar faces from online, influencers, maybe some editors. It’s a weird mix. Everyone’s kind of sizing each other up, but also trying not to look like they are.
Inside the Show
Finally, they started letting people into the actual show space. Found my seat, which thankfully wasn’t tucked away behind a pillar or something. The place looked amazing, proper dramatic lighting, minimalist setup. You could feel the anticipation building up. Music started low, then got louder.
Showtime. Lights dimmed completely, then BAM, first model walks out. Music thumping. It happens fast. The models walk with purpose, serious faces. You’re trying to take it all in – the clothes, the vibe, the way things move. It’s way different than seeing photos or videos later.
Saw lots of sharp tailoring, dark colours mostly, very sleek silhouettes. Some sheer stuff, really strong shoulder looks. It felt very… Saint Laurent, you know? Confident, a bit edgy. The whole thing maybe lasted 10-15 minutes? It feels intense and then suddenly, it’s the finale walk, Anthony Vaccarello comes out for a quick bow, and lights up.

Wrapping Up
And just like that, it was over. People start getting up immediately, heading for the exits. It’s a quick flood out. Stepped back outside into the Paris night. Still a bit of a buzz from the show.
Walked back towards the Metro, processing it. Seeing it live, the energy, the atmosphere – it’s something else. You get why people make such a big deal about it. Was it a smooth, easy process from start to finish? Not really. Lots of little stresses. But yeah, glad I went. Seeing that level of creativity up close is pretty cool. Definitely a memory I’ll hang onto.
