Okay, so I got this idea to mess around with early 2000s fashion. I remember that time, right? So much denim, weird layers, and questionable accessories. I wanted to see if I could pull off a “fashion in 2003” look today.

Digging Through the Closet (and Maybe My Mom’s)
First, I raided my own closet. I knew I had some older pieces stuffed in the back. I found a couple of low-rise jeans that I’d forgotten about – score! I also unearthed a denim jacket that was probably a little too tight, but hey, that’s the vibe, right?
Then, I might have “borrowed” a few things from my mom’s closet (don’t tell her!). I found this amazing, ridiculously embellished belt – think big buckle, lots of rhinestones. Perfect!
Putting it All Together (and Feeling a Little Ridiculous)
Okay, so here’s what I ended up with:
- Low-rise jeans (obviously)
- A fitted baby tee – I found one with some random graphic on it
- The denim jacket
- That insane belt
- Some chunky sneakers I had lying around
I layered the baby tee under the denim jacket, cinched everything in with the belt, and threw on the sneakers. Honestly, I felt a little bit like I was in a time warp. It was kind of uncomfortable, but also kind of fun.
The Final Verdict?
I took a few pictures, and yeah, it definitely looked like something straight out of 2003. Would I wear this out in public? Probably not. But it was a fun little experiment to revisit that era of fashion. It’s amazing how much styles can change!

Trying this out made me realize how much trends recycle, It is fun playing around my mom closet.
