Marilyn Monroe Photoshoot: Dive into the Glamour of Her Legendary Photos

Okay, so I’ve been wanting to do a Marilyn Monroe-inspired photoshoot for ages. Seriously, who doesn’t love that classic, glamorous vibe? I finally decided to just go for it! Here’s how it all went down.

Finding the Look

First things first, I needed to nail the look. I spent a good chunk of time scrolling through photos of Marilyn. Gotta get that inspiration, right? I was mainly looking at her iconic white dress photos, but also some of her more casual looks.

  • Hair: Obviously, the blonde curls are key. I’m not a natural blonde, so I knew a wig was the way to go. I found one online that seemed pretty decent – a wavy, shoulder-length blonde one.
  • Makeup: Red lipstick, winged eyeliner, and soft, glowing skin. That’s the Marilyn signature. I practiced the winged liner a few times beforehand, because, let’s be real, it can be tricky!
  • Outfit: I considered trying to find a white halter dress like the dress, but I ended up going with a simpler white dress I already owned. It had a similar flowy feel, which I thought would work. I also grabbed a few sparkly accessories, just to add some extra glam.

Setting the Scene

I don’t have a fancy studio or anything, so I had to get creative with the location. I ended up using my living room, since it has the best natural light. Here’s what I did:

  • Cleared out some furniture to make space.
  • Hung up a plain white sheet as a backdrop. Not the most professional, but it did the trick!
  • Positioned a lamp to give a soft, diffused light. I played around with it until I got the shadows right.

The Shoot Itself

My best friend came over to help me with the photos. Teamwork makes the dream work, people! I put on the wig, did my makeup, and got dressed. It felt a little silly at first, but I quickly got into character.

We spent about an hour taking photos. We tried different poses, some inspired by Marilyn’s famous shots, and some just messing around. My friend is pretty good with a camera, so she helped me get the angles and lighting right.

I have to say the wig was itchy. And the red lipstick got everywhere. But, you know, sacrifices for art!

The Final Result

After the shoot, I picked out the best photos and did some light editing. Mostly just adjusting the brightness and contrast. I was actually really happy with how they turned out! It wasn’t exactly professional quality, but it captured the vibe I was going for.

It was a super fun experience, even if it was a bit chaotic.

Would I do it again? Totally! Maybe next time I’ll try a different Marilyn look. Or maybe even a different classic Hollywood star altogether. The possibilities are endless!
