Hey everyone, so I’ve been trying to get into this whole American high street style thing lately. It looks so cool and effortless, you know? I figured I’d give it a shot and document my journey, bumps and all.
Day 1: The Deep Dive
First thing I did was hit up Pinterest. Typed in “American street fashion” and, wow, it was a rabbit hole of styles! Tons of pictures, from super casual to kinda dressed up. I started saving a bunch of looks that I thought I could maybe pull off, just a mix of everything to get some ideas flowing.
Day 2: Closet Raid
Okay, time to see what I actually have to work with. I dug through my closet, trying to find pieces that matched the vibe I saw online. Found a few basic t-shirts, some old jeans that are kinda loose, and a couple of hoodies. Not much, but it’s a start, right? I also found this old denim jacket buried in the back – score! It’s a bit oversized, which seems to be a thing in these street styles.
Day 3: First Attempt – The Classic
Today, I went for a super simple look: a plain white tee, those loose jeans, and the denim jacket. I tried tucking the t-shirt in a bit, like I saw in one of the pictures. Threw on some old sneakers and… it wasn’t bad! It felt pretty comfortable, and I think I looked alright. Definitely a good starting point, I guess.
Day 4: Experimenting with Layers
Remembered seeing something about layering, so I tried adding a hoodie under the denim jacket. It was a bit bulky, but it actually looked kinda cool. Maybe a thinner hoodie would work better. Still, I felt like I was getting the hang of it. This layering thing definitely adds some interest to a basic outfit.
Day 5: Trench Coat Trial
I saw a bunch of pictures with trench coats, and luckily, I have one that my mom gave me ages ago. I paired it with a black turtleneck and the loose jeans. Honestly, I felt a bit like a detective or something, but it was fun! It’s a bit more dressed up than the other looks, but still within that street style realm, I think.
Day 6: Mixing and Matching
Today was all about mixing things up. I tried different combinations of the pieces I already used. White tee with the trench coat, hoodie with just the jeans, stuff like that. It was actually pretty fun seeing how many different outfits I could create with just a few items. I realized that just changing one thing can give a whole new vibe.
Day 7: Feeling Confident
After a week of experimenting, I think I’m finally starting to get it. This whole street style thing is about mixing and matching basic pieces to create something that looks cool and feels comfortable. It’s not about having super expensive clothes or following trends blindly. It’s more about putting your own spin on things and just owning it. I still have a long way to go, but it’s been a fun ride so far. I’ll keep you guys posted on my progress!
So that’s my first week trying out American high street style. It’s been a fun experiment, and I’m definitely going to keep at it. Let me know what you think and if you have any tips for me in the comments!
