Tackling ‘Madonna’s Butt’
Okay, so today was the day I finally decided to really get into it, this thing we started calling ‘Madonna’s Butt’. Don’t ask me why, it just stuck. It’s this really awkward piece of the project, you know? The part everyone avoids.

I started off pretty optimistic this morning. Got my coffee, sat down, thought, “Right, let’s just untangle this mess.” Opened up the files and just stared at it for like, ten minutes. It’s like someone knitted a sweater, then decided to knit another sweater using the first one as yarn, but backwards. Just a total mess.
First, I tried just cleaning up the obvious stuff. Little tweaks here and there. But every time I changed one thing, something else would just break completely. It felt like playing Jenga with cooked spaghetti. Super frustrating.
- Tried mapping out how things connected. That took ages and the map looked like a toddler’s drawing.
- Tried commenting out chunks to see what still worked. Mostly, nothing worked.
- Even tried searching for similar problems others might have had. Found nothing quite like this beast.
Around lunchtime, I was ready to throw my keyboard out the window. Seriously. This thing is stubborn. It just sits there, mocking you. Decided to step away, grab some food, clear my head. Watched some birds outside for a bit. Anything to not think about it.
A Different Angle
Came back after lunch. Thought maybe I was looking at it wrong. Instead of fixing the whole thing, what if I just tried to get one tiny part working reliably? Like, ignore the rest of the tangled mess for now.
So I focused on this one specific function. Pulled it out, metaphorically speaking. Started testing just that bit, feeding it simple stuff, seeing what it spat out. It took a while, lots of small changes, testing again and again. But slowly, slowly, I started to make sense of that little piece.

Didn’t solve the whole ‘Madonna’s Butt’ problem, not by a long shot. But I got that one small part doing what it was supposed to do. Felt like a small victory, you know? Like finding one solid block in that spaghetti Jenga tower.
So, that was my practice for today. Didn’t conquer the mountain, but I climbed a small hill. Guess I’ll chip away at the next piece tomorrow. It’s progress, right? That’s what I’m telling myself anyway.
