Okay, so I’ve been seeing “D’USSÉ” all over my social media feeds lately, and I finally decided to give it a shot. Here’s how it went down, from zero knowledge to, well, a little bit of knowledge and a slight buzz.

The Research Phase (aka Googling Stuff)
First, I had to figure out what D’USSÉ even was. Turns out, it’s a Cognac. I’m not a big liquor person, usually sticking to beer or the occasional mixed drink, so this was already outside my comfort zone. I spent maybe 20 minutes looking at random web pages for the name and just got more context.
Getting My Hands on a Bottle
Next step: actually acquiring some. I hit up my local liquor store – the one with the slightly intimidating guy who always seems to know way too much about whiskey. I felt like a total noob asking for it, but hey, everyone starts somewhere, right?
I grabbed the smaller bottle, because, commitment issues. It wasn’t cheap, that’s for sure!
The Tasting (and a Few Stumbles)
Back home, I pulled out a couple of glasses – I think they’re technically for wine, but whatever. Poured a little bit in, and…wow, that’s a strong smell.
First sip: definitely not beer. It was…intense. Kind of burned a little, but in a way that felt fancy? I’m not sure I can describe the taste. Fruity? Spicy? I definitely tasted something. I added an ice cube, which seemed to help mellow it out a bit.
- First Impression: Whoa, strong stuff!
- Second Sip (with ice): Better, smoother.
- Third Sip: Okay, I think I get it.
The Aftermath
I didn’t finish the whole glass, even the small amount I poured. I’m not used to drinking straight liquor. But I can see why people like it. It’s definitely something you sip and savor, not chug.
Will I become a Cognac connoisseur? Probably not. Was it an interesting experience? Absolutely. I might even try it again sometime, maybe in a cocktail to ease myself into it. For now, I’m going to stick to my usual drinks, but I feel a little bit more cultured for having tried D’USSÉ.
