Fashion How to Style a Cape Coat: From Casual to Dressy

Okay, so I’ve been seeing cape coats everywhere lately and I finally decided to give one a try. I wasn’t sure how to style it at first, but I think I figured out a few ways that work for me.

Fashion How to Style a Cape Coat: From Casual to Dressy

First off, I picked a black cape coat because it seemed like the most versatile option. I found one online that had a collarless design and a concealed button front. It looked pretty simple, but also kind of chic.

Experimenting with Different Looks

  • Look 1: I paired it with a white collar shirt and some dark green skinny jeans. To complete the look I added some tobacco leather ankle boots. This felt pretty good, like a classic, easy-to-wear outfit.
  • Look 2: For a slightly dressier vibe, I tried the cape coat with a long-sleeved off-shoulder top. I also found some cool leather gloves with a piped bow that I thought would add a nice touch. Then I put on some brogue lace-ups, which made the whole outfit feel a bit more put-together.

Figuring Out the Best Way to Wear It

After trying out these different combinations, I realized that the cape coat is actually pretty easy to style. It creates volume on top, so it’s best to pair it with something slim-fitting on the bottom, like skinny jeans or tailored trousers. I think faux leather trousers would look great too, especially with knee-high boots.

I also discovered that there are different ways to wear the cape itself. You can just wear it as a regular cape, or you can wrap it around your shoulders for a bit of extra warmth. And if you want to look really classy, you can drape it around your neck like a scarf.

Overall, I’m really happy with my cape coat experiment. It’s such a fun and stylish piece, and it’s way more versatile than I initially thought. I can see myself wearing it a lot this season!
