Okay, so I’ve been seeing this “mob wife aesthetic” thing all over my TikTok lately, and I gotta say, I was intrigued. I mean, who doesn’t want to look like they just stepped out of a Scorsese movie, right? So, I decided to give it a shot myself. Here’s how it went down.
First, Gathering My Gear
I started by basically raiding my closet. I knew I needed some key pieces. Think big, bold, and a little bit…extra.
- Leopard Print: Found an old leopard print coat I hadn’t worn in ages. Score!
- Leather: I have this black leather skirt that I thought would be perfect.
- Faux Fur: Luckily, I had a fluffy, faux fur stole that my grandma gave me. This was going to be crucial.
- Gold Jewelry: The bigger, the better, I gathered all my chunky gold necklaces and rings.
- Sunglasses: Big, black, and dramatic. Check.
Operation: Mob Wife Hair
Next up, the hair. This was probably the most challenging part for me. I have naturally straight, fine hair, and I needed VOLUME. I’m talking serious, gravity-defying volume.
I watched a bunch of tutorials, and honestly, it was a lot of teasing and hairspray. I backcombed my hair like there was no tomorrow. It felt weird, and I was pretty sure I was damaging my hair, but I was committed. The end goal justifies the means, you know?
Makeup Time
The makeup was fun. Smoky eyes, a bold red lip, and lots of contouring. I basically used every product I owned.
- Smokey eye: It’s all about it, I used a lot of dark brown and black eyeshadow.
- Winged eyeliner: Of course.
- Red lipstick: I went for the brightest, most dramatic red I could find.
- Contouring: I tried to sculpt my cheekbones to look like I could cut glass with them.
Putting It All Together
I put on the leopard print coat, the leather skirt, and layered on the gold jewelry. I draped the faux fur stole around my shoulders and popped on the sunglasses. Then, I looked in the mirror.

Honestly? I felt a little ridiculous, but also kind of…powerful. It was definitely a look. I’m not sure I’d wear this to the grocery store, but it was fun to play around with. It’s definitely a vibe, and if you want to feel like a boss, it certainly does the trick. I took a few selfies, naturally, and sent them to my friends. Their reactions were pretty priceless.
So there you have it. My little adventure in the mob wife aesthetic. Would I do it again? Maybe for a themed party, Or maybe I’ll try to incorporate some little parts into my daily looks. But as a full-time, everyday look? It’s a bit much, even for me!
