Okay, so today I decided to mess around with this “1960 Firebird” thing. I’d heard some buzz about it, mostly from old-timers reminiscing, and figured, why not? Let’s dive in!

Getting Started

First things first, I started by digging up some info. What even is a 1960 Firebird? Turns out, it’s not a production car, it’s a concept car, like a prototype, from General Motors. Pretty cool, huh?

I spent a good chunk of the morning just looking at pictures. I mean, this thing is wild. Jet-inspired design, bubble top – totally out there. I wanted to get a real feel for the aesthetic before I did anything else.

The Deep Dive

Then came the research phase. I read articles, forum posts – you name it. I was trying to find any blueprints, sketches, anything that could give me a better understanding of how this thing was supposedly built.

  • I found some old magazine scans. Pretty grainy, but helpful!
  • I stumbled upon a forum thread with some guys arguing about the engine specs. Classic internet.
  • I even watched a few videos of some restored concept cars, just to get a vibe for the era.

Putting it All Together (Virtually)

Now, I’m no engineer, but I do like to tinker with 3D modeling software. So, I decided to try and recreate the Firebird, at least digitally. This was the fun part!

I started with the basic shape, kind of like sculpting with digital clay. Then I slowly added in details, referencing all those pictures I’d saved. The bubble top was a real pain, let me tell you! It took several tries to get it looking even remotely right.

I spent hours tweaking and refining, zooming in and out, rotating the model to check every angle. It’s slow going, but seeing it come together is super satisfying.

The Result (So Far)

I’m not finished yet, not by a long shot. But I’ve got a decent base model going. It’s rough, it’s imperfect, but it’s my version of the 1960 Firebird. It’s been a fun project so far, a cool little trip back in time. I might even try to 3D print it someday, who knows?

So That all I have done for today!
