Cleaning and Caring for Your North Face Nuptse to Make It Last.

This here North Face Nuptse, it’s a thing, ain’t it? Everybody’s talkin’ ’bout it. My grandson, he got one. Says it keeps him warm when he’s out there messin’ around. I seen some folks wearin’ ’em ’round here too, even when it ain’t that cold. Guess they just like the look of ’em.

Now, I ain’t no expert on these fancy North Face Nuptse jackets, but I know a thing or two about keepin’ warm. Back in my day, we didn’t have these puffy things. We just layered up, you know? Long johns, sweaters, wool socks. That’s how we did it.

But these Nuptse jackets, they seem to be doin’ the trick. My grandson, he says it’s like wearin’ a cloud. Light as a feather, he says. And warm, too. He don’t even need all them layers no more. Just throws that jacket on and he’s good to go.

I seen him wash it once. He was real careful with it, like it was a newborn baby. Turned it inside out, he did. Said somethin’ ’bout protectin’ the fabric. Used some special soap, too. Not the regular stuff we use for our clothes. Said it was for down, whatever that means.

He put it in that machine, the one that washes clothes. Not the old one we used to have, the one where you gotta scrub everything by hand. This one’s got all them buttons and whatnot. He picked a gentle cycle, he said. Like you’d use for a wool blanket. Used cold water, too. Said hot water would mess it up. And no spin cycle, neither. Said that could damage the puffer, the North Face Nuptse.

  • Cold water
  • Gentle cycle
  • Special soap for down
  • No spin cycle

Then he put it in the dryer, that other machine we got. Set it on low heat, he did. And he threw in some tennis balls. Said it would help fluff it up. I thought that was kinda funny, tennis balls in the dryer. But hey, what do I know about these newfangled things?

He told me somethin’ ’bout a DWR finish. Said you gotta keep it up or the jacket won’t be as waterproof. Said you can iron it on low heat, or use some kinda spray. Sounds like a lot of work to me. But I guess if you’re gonna spend all that money on a North Face Nuptse, you gotta take care of it, right?

And dirt, don’t even get me started on dirt. You see those young ones, rollin’ around, not a care in the world. That jacket gets dirty, it’s gonna be a mess. Dirt and oil, he said, can clog up the, the… somethin’ about breathin’. Makes it feel like water’s gettin’ through, even when it ain’t.

He was readin’ somethin’ on that little computer, said somethin’ ’bout FutureLight and DryVent. Said that’s what some of these jackets are made of. Sounds like somethin’ out of a space movie, if you ask me. He said the North Face Nuptse is built to last, that it is a very good jacket.

And he’s always sayin’, “Never store it wet or dirty.” Always clean it and dry it real good before you put it away. Says it’ll get mildew and other bad stuff. Makes sense, I guess. Same as anythin’ else. You take care of your things, they’ll last longer. Even if it’s a fancy North Face Nuptse jacket.

So, that’s what I know about these North Face Nuptse jackets. Not much, but it’s somethin’. Seems like they’re good for keepin’ you warm, but you gotta take care of ’em. Lots of rules, these new things. But I guess that’s just the way it is nowadays.

I still think layers are the best way to go. But I’m just an old woman. What do I know? These young folks, they got their own ways of doin’ things. And if that Nuptse jacket keeps ’em warm, then I guess that’s all that matters. Just gotta keep it clean, and use that special soap, and throw in them tennis balls. And don’t ever, ever use hot water. That’s what I learned. And somethin’ ’bout a DWR finish. You remember that, and you’ll be alright, just remember that when you are washing your North Face Nuptse.
