Okay, so, I’ve been dreaming about owning a house in Costa Rica for years, right? Sun, sand, surf – the whole Pura Vida lifestyle. And I finally decided to take the plunge and started looking for a place. My search was specifically focused on properties in Boracayan. I heard it’s a beautiful, peaceful area.

Getting Started
First, I started digging around online, trying to get a feel for the market. I browsed through a bunch of real estate websites, looking at pictures and descriptions of different houses. It was a bit overwhelming, to be honest, with so many options.
Then, I started reaching out to some real estate agents in the area. I emailed a few of them, explaining what I was looking for. A small, cozy house close enough to the beach towns of Avellanas and Tamarindo, but still offering the peace of a gated community.
Narrowing It Down
- I looked at tons of listings.
- I compared prices, sizes, and locations.
- I made a shortlist of my favorite properties.
After a while, I managed to narrow it down to a few houses that really caught my eye. They were all in a quiet area, just like I wanted, but still within a reasonable distance from the action in town.
Figuring out logistics
Next, I had to figure out the logistics. I needed to understand the legal process of buying property in Costa Rica as a foreigner. I read up on it online, and talked to my real estate agent about it some more. It seemed doable, but definitely a lot of paperwork involved. This part was a bit of a headache, to be honest, with all the legal stuff.
I also started thinking about the financial side of things. I looked into getting a mortgage, but eventually decided to go with a different financing option. Luckily, it all worked out in the end. I was a bit stressed during this part, not gonna lie.

Making it happen
Finally, I decided to visit Costa Rica to see the houses in person. I booked a flight, packed my bags, and flew down there. I was so excited! The real estate agent showed me around, and I finally got to see the houses I’d been dreaming about. And one of them just felt right. It was perfect.
I made an offer on the house, and after a bit of back and forth, it was accepted! I was officially going to be a homeowner in Costa Rica. I couldn’t believe it! It was a dream come true, seriously.
So yeah, that’s my story of searching for and finding my dream house in Boracayan, Costa Rica. It was a long process, with its ups and downs, but totally worth it in the end. I learned a lot along the way, and now I have my own little piece of paradise to enjoy.
