Almost gave up till I spotted vintage saddle shoes at Value Village – perfect for mixing old and new preppy!
Putting outfits together was messy
Tried that “quiet luxury” thing first with beige everything – looked like I rolled in sand. Then experimented with:
- Layering collars under sweaters (kept bunching up weird)
- Tying scarves on bags (actually cute)
- Wearing blazers with bike shorts (felt ridiculous)
Finally nailed it mixing my thrifted rugby shirt with tailored shorts and new balance sneaks. Instagrammed that combo immediately!
Biggest surprise? How preppy went from snobby to streetwear. Saw teens rocking varsity jackets with ripped jeans at mall – total remix of classic style. My guide basically shows how to do that mashup without looking try-hard.
Honestly thought this trend died with Gossip Girl reboot but nah – it’s back with way cooler accessories. Might actually wear this saddle shoes+tube socks combo tomorrow.
