Okay, so I got this idea to mess around with recreating some iconic 80s fashion model looks. You know, the big hair, the bold makeup, the shoulder pads – the whole shebang. I figured it would be a fun little project, and honestly, who doesn’t love a good throwback?

Getting Started
First, I dug through my closet. I mean, really dug. I was hoping to find some hidden gems, maybe an old dress or a jacket that I could repurpose. No luck, unfortunately, my mom seems get rid of all old clothes.
So, plan B: I hit up the thrift stores. I spent a whole afternoon browsing through racks and racks of clothes. And let me tell you, it was a wild ride. So much polyester!
Gathering the Goods
- I found this amazing oversized blazer with HUGE shoulder pads. It was a hideous shade of purple, but I knew it had potential.
- I also snagged a bright pink, almost neon, mini-skirt.
- And the best find of all? A pair of totally rad, acid-wash jeans. Score!
The Transformation
Back home, I laid everything out and started to piece together the outfits. It was like a puzzle, trying to figure out what worked and what didn’t.
Then came the hair and makeup. Oh boy. I teased my hair until it was practically reaching the ceiling. I think I used an entire can of hairspray. My poor lungs!
For the makeup, I went all out. Bright blue eyeshadow, heavy blush, and the most vibrant red lipstick I could find. I felt like I was channeling my inner Madonna.

The Final Result
I put on the first outfit – the blazer and mini-skirt – and struck a pose. Then I switched to the acid-wash jeans and a cropped, off-the-shoulder top. I felt ridiculous, but in the best way possible. It was like stepping back in time. I had a friend snap some photos for me, and we were cracking up the whole time.
It was a super fun project, and it definitely took me out of my comfort zone. Who knew 80s fashion could be so… extra? I even have a mind to make the best pics I took into a profile picture.
