Okay, so I kept seeing these 90s style jeans popping up again. Everywhere, really. And I thought, alright, let’s give this a go. Been wearing the same skinny or straight cuts for years, you know? Felt like time to switch things up a bit, maybe get back to something looser.

Finding The Right Pair

First thing I did was check online, just to see what brands were even doing this style now. Lots of options, some crazy expensive. I wasn’t looking to spend a fortune on something I wasn’t sure I’d even like wearing. So, next step was hitting the thrift stores. Man, that took some digging. Went through rack after rack.

I was looking for a specific vibe, you know?

  • Light wash, definitely. None of that dark indigo stuff.
  • High waist, gotta be high waist.
  • Baggy, but not like clown pants. Just relaxed through the leg.
  • Good old thick denim, not that stretchy material they use now.

Found a few pairs that were close, but either the fit was totally off, or they were ripped in weird places. Almost gave up after the third store. But then, tucked away in the back, I spotted this pair. Levi’s, looked pretty old but in good shape. Light blue, high waist, straight leg but definitely looser than modern cuts. Grabbed ’em quick.

Trying Them and Wearing Them

Got home and tried them on immediately. Okay, first impression? Comfortable. Like, really comfortable. Felt weird not having fabric clinging to my legs. The waist was high, maybe a bit higher than I remembered, but it fit alright. They were a little long, so I just cuffed the bottoms a couple of times. Looked pretty decent, actually.

First time I wore them out, I just kept it simple. Plain white t-shirt, sneakers. Felt a bit self-conscious at first, not gonna lie. Kept thinking they looked too baggy or something. But honestly? Nobody really cares what you’re wearing. And after walking around for a bit, I just forgot about it. They were just easy to move in.

Since then, I’ve worn them quite a bit. Tried them with a flannel shirt, kind of grunge-lite, I guess. Looks okay. Tried them with a tighter top to balance out the loose bottoms, that worked too. They’re surprisingly versatile. The denim is thick, feels like it’ll last forever, unlike some jeans I’ve bought recently that feel thin after a few washes.

So yeah, I actually dig them. It’s funny, I remember wearing jeans exactly like this back in high school. Never thought I’d wear them again. But they’re comfortable, they feel durable, and it’s a nice change. Definitely keeping these in the rotation. Took some effort to find the right pair, but worth it in the end.
