Whatever Happened to the Models of the 80s? (Discover Their Lives After the Runway!)

Yesterday, I was scrolling through some old photo albums, and I stumbled upon a collection of pictures from the 80s. Man, the fashion back then was something else! I got this crazy idea to try and recreate some of the iconic model poses from that era. You know, the big hair, the shoulder pads, the whole shebang.

Getting Started

First, I dug through my closet to see if I had anything that could even remotely pass for 80s attire. I found a few things, you know just some random stuff, not enough to make it work, sadly.

Sourcing the Goods

So, I headed to a few thrift stores. Let me tell you, those places are goldmines for vintage stuff! I managed to find a couple of oversized blazers with, of course, massive shoulder pads. I also scored some high-waisted jeans and a few brightly colored tops. It was like stepping back in time! This cost me a lot more than I thought it would.

Setting the Stage

Once I had the clothes, I needed to work on the hair and makeup. I watched a bunch of old music videos and flipped through some magazines for inspiration. Teasing my hair to achieve that voluminous 80s look was quite the process. Hairspray became my best friend. I think my neighbors thought I was crazy. For the makeup, I went heavy on the blue eyeshadow and bright pink blush, just like they did back then.

Strike a Pose

Finally, it was time to strike some poses. I set up my camera and started experimenting. It was harder than it looked! Those models in the 80s really knew how to work it. I tried to channel my inner Cindy Crawford and mimicked the poses I saw in the photos. But it just wasn’t working out. I mean, how did they make it look so effortless?

Nailed It (Kind Of)

After a few hours and countless awkward attempts, I finally got a few shots that I was somewhat happy with. They weren’t perfect, but they definitely captured the essence of the 80s. It was a fun trip down memory lane, and I got a good laugh out of the whole experience. Would I do it again? Probably not. But hey, at least I can say I tried! It took way longer than I expected, but who cares.

  • Find some 80s-inspired clothing.
  • Do your hair and makeup like they did in the 80s.
  • Practice your poses and take some photos.
  • Have fun with it!

So, that’s the story of my little 80s modeling adventure. It was a lot of work, but it was definitely a memorable experience. It’s not every day that you get to relive a bygone era, even if it’s just for a few hours in your living room. I guess you can say I’m done playing dress-up for now, but who knows what decade I’ll tackle next!
