Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this “Apsley” thing, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a journey. I’m not gonna lie, I kinda stumbled through it, but hey, that’s how we learn, right?

Getting Started
First, I Googled “the apsley”. I found some stuff, some pictures, some descriptions…it seemed like a kind of a historical building or something, so I started to get a feel for what I was dealing with. I wanted to get a digital version of this thing, I needed it for my current working project. So that’s my starting point.
The Process (aka Trial and Error)
My initial plan was pretty simple: find some good reference images and just… build it. I started by gathering what I just found on Google. Just different angles, close-ups, anything that showed details.
- I opened up a new file.
- I started with basic shapes. Just blocks, really. Trying to match the overall proportions of the building.
- Then, I slowly started adding more details. Windows, doors, that kind of stuff.
- I kept comparing my model to the reference images, making adjustments, tweaking things here and there.
It was definitely a back-and-forth process. I’d add something, realize it looked off, delete it, try again. There were moments where I just stared at the screen, completely lost. But I kept pushing.
Making it Work
The trickiest part was probably getting the details right. Like, the ornate decorations and stuff. I experimented with different ways, and find a way to simplify the design but still get the general idea across.
Finally, after a good few hours, I had something that actually looked like the Apsley! It’s not perfect, for sure, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. I rendered a few views, just to see how it looked with some lighting, and it’s actually pretty decent!

What I Learned
This whole thing taught me a few things:
- Patience is key. Seriously, don’t expect to get it right on the first try.
- Good references are essential. The more pictures you have, the better.
- Don’t be afraid to experiment. Try different approaches, see what works.
- It’s okay to make mistakes. That’s how you learn. Just delete it and try again.
So yeah, that’s my Apsley adventure. It was messy, it was frustrating at times, but I got there in the end. And hey, I learned a lot along the way. Hope this sharing helps you if you plan to make one yourself!
