Okay, so I’ve been obsessed with vintage fashion lately, and I decided to dive deep into Tom Ford’s era at Gucci. I specifically wanted to focus on the 2001 runway show because I’d seen some pictures online and it looked amazing. So, here’s how my little research project went.

Getting Started
First, I hit up Google. I mean, where else do you start, right? I just typed in “Tom Ford 2001 Gucci runway” and looked at the image results. I wanted to get a general feel for the collection before I dug any deeper.
Finding Videos
Then, I moved to Youtube. Static images are great, but I needed to see the clothes in motion. I searched for the same thing, “Tom Ford 2001 Gucci runway,” and, thankfully, I found a few videos! They weren’t the best quality – you know, old internet and all that – but they were good enough to give me a better idea of the flow and the vibe of the show.
Deep Dive into Details
- I spent a good hour just watching the videos, pausing and rewinding to catch details. The cuts of the clothes, the fabrics, the accessories… I was trying to absorb everything.
- I paid a lot of attention to color use.
- I also take some screenshots during the videos.
Making Notes
While I was watching, I opened up a Google Doc and started jotting down notes. I described the key looks, the colors that stood out, the materials that seemed prominent (lots of silk and leather, from what I could tell), and any specific details that caught my eye. Like, there was this one amazing white dress with a super low neckline and a really interesting belt – I made sure to write that one down!
Putting It All Together
I also want to figure out a good way to describe the collection, I write down what I saw and what I felt about this show.
It was a super fun little research project! Now I’ve got a much better understanding of Tom Ford’s vision for Gucci in 2001, and I can see how it’s influenced fashion even today. This is the collection with full of very confident and sexy vibe.
