Okay, so today I messed around with something I’ve been seeing a lot lately – surrealism in fashion. It’s all those funky, dreamlike outfits that look like they came straight out of a Salvador Dali painting. I wanted to see if I could pull off something similar, just for fun, you know?

Getting Started
First, I dug through my closet. I didn’t have anything specifically surreal, obviously. No melting clocks or lobster phones lying around. But I tried to find pieces that had interesting textures, weird shapes, or just felt a little “off.”
- I found this old, oversized velvet blazer that’s almost comically large.
- Then there was this scarf with a bizarre, abstract print that I’ve never known how to wear.
- And I had these chunky, platform boots that always felt a bit…extra.
Experimenting with combinations
Next, I started to combine cloth, just throwing things together to see what would happen. It was all about trial and error. Some combos were…well, let’s just say they were interesting. Others started to have that weird, dreamlike quality I was going for. I think the key was not being afraid to look a little ridiculous.
I paired the oversized blazer with a brightly colored, patterned dress that normally I’d never wear with it. The clash of styles and the sheer volume of the blazer started to feel pretty surreal.
Then I draped the abstract scarf around my head in a way that was totally impractical, but visually interesting. Kind of like a turban, but messier and more…melty, if that makes sense.
Adding details
Accessories were crucial. I added a bunch of mismatched jewelry – a single, long earring, a necklace with a weird, distorted pendant, some chunky rings. The more “wrong” it felt, the better it seemed to fit the surreal aesthetic.

I even played around with makeup. I didn’t go full-on face paint or anything, but I did a super bold, asymmetrical eyeliner look, and a really dark, almost black lipstick. It definitely added to the unsettling vibe.
The Final Result
In the end, the outfit was…definitely something. It was weird, a bit uncomfortable, and probably not something I’d wear to the grocery store. But it definitely captured that dreamy, illogical feeling of surrealism. It felt like I was wearing a piece of art, rather than just clothes.
Honestly, the whole process was more about the experimentation than the final result. I really explored to combine these cloth, It was fun to just let go of the rules and see what happened. Would I do it again? Maybe! It’s definitely inspired me to think outside the box a bit more when it comes to my style.
