Just like learnin’ to milk a cow, I reckon, except with fancy fabrics instead of, well, you know.
They say this fashion internship thing helps you get a real job later. You gotta show ’em you’re willin’ to learn. It makes sense. If you wanna be good at somethin’, you gotta practice. They got these websites, they tell me. Sites just for findin’ these fashion jobs, not like the ones I used to look at back when I got my first job. They call ’em FashionJobs, StyleCareers, and Business of Fashion. I don’t know ’bout all that, but it sounds fancy, don’t it?
And then there’s them other sites, Indeed, Glassdoor, and somethin’ called LinkedIn. It’s all a bit much for me to keep up with. But the young folks, they seem to know what they’re doin’. They type in “fashion internship” and all sorts of things pop up. It’s like magic, I swear.
They say these summer fashion internships, lots of them happen in the summer. When school’s out. Makes sense, I guess. Gotta keep the kids busy somehow. This whole thing is all about learnin’ and gettin’ experience. Like when I learned to can peaches from my mama. Gotta learn by doin’, that’s what I always say.

If you wanna learn how to get fashion internships, they even made a how-to! I guess you can’t find that in any of the books I read growing up. They said there is seven whole steps just to get a fashion internship.
So, this summer internship in fashion industry, it’s a whole different world. But some things are still the same. You gotta work hard, you gotta learn, and you gotta be willin’ to get your hands dirty. Even if it’s just with thread and needles instead of dirt and seeds.
