Alright, so I decided to dive into this game, Once Human. Heard a lot about it, this big open-world survival thing set after everything went weird. You know the drill, spooky monsters, building bases, trying not to get whacked by other players.
So, getting started, the world is massive. Seriously, you can tell it takes up a chunk of space on the hard drive, feels pretty detailed. First few hours were just about not dying. Finding water, grabbing scraps, avoiding the big ugly things.
Trying Something Out
After getting my feet wet, I noticed, well, other players can be the biggest pain. You try to build something nice, someone comes along and tries to wreck it. Got me thinking. Maybe I should keep track, you know? Like a list. Who’s friendly, who’s shot on sight. Sort of my own “frag list” for the folks I ran into, mostly guys causing trouble, seems like.
So I started doing that. Built a little hidden spot for myself, nothing fancy. Then I’d go out, scout around areas where people fight over resources. Saw a guy, maybe acting aggressive, I’d try to remember his name or what he looked like, where he was hanging out.
- Made mental notes mostly. Sometimes jotted stuff down quick on a pad next to me.
- Tried to figure out patrol routes or common looting spots for some players.
- Focused on folks who attacked me first, or who seemed overly geared up and aggressive near starter areas.
How It Actually Went
Yeah, that didn’t work out quite like I planned. Keeping track of people in this huge, chaotic world? Tough job. People change clothes, change gear, team up, log off. The guy you marked as hostile near the collapsed bridge might be gone tomorrow, or maybe he’s got three friends with him now.
It was messy. More often than not, I’d spend time trying to track someone or avoid a certain ‘marked’ player, only to get jumped by something completely unexpected, like a pack of those weird dog-things or another player I hadn’t even seen before.
Couple of times, I thought I had the drop on someone from my ‘list’. Snuck up, ready to defend my spot… turned out to be a different dude entirely just wearing similar gear. Led to some awkward moments, sometimes firefights I didn’t need.
Final Thoughts On That Idea
So, this whole “men frag list” practice? Honestly, for me, in Once Human, it wasn’t really worth the effort. It made me too focused on specific players and less aware of the overall environment, which is just as dangerous.
Found it better to just treat every encounter carefully. Assume everyone could be hostile until proven otherwise, but don’t go hunting trouble based on a flimsy list. Better to focus on building a solid base, getting good gear, and maybe finding a couple of trustworthy mates to run with. Fighting monsters and exploring feels more productive anyway.
So yeah, that was my little experiment. Back to just surviving day-to-day in that crazy world.
