Okay, so, I tried to make sense of this “see-through fashion show” thing. I’m not a fashion guy, but I was curious, you know? It sounded interesting, so I figured, why not give it a shot?

First, I gathered some materials. I mean, what do you even use for see-through clothes? Plastic? I found some clear plastic sheets, the kind you use for, like, wrapping stuff, or maybe for windows in a dollhouse? I don’t know. I also grabbed some transparent tape, scissors, and a marker, just in case. I did not know what I was going to do with them but I just grabbed them all.
Then, I tried to sketch out some ideas. Yeah, I’m not an artist either. My sketches looked like a toddler’s drawings, seriously. I was thinking, maybe a simple dress? Or a shirt? I ended up deciding on a basic A-line dress shape. It seemed like the easiest thing to try. Also, I watched some videos online. I wanted to see what is trending in fashion industry and get some inspiration.
Getting Started
- Cut the plastic. This was harder than I thought. The plastic kept slipping, and the scissors were not cooperating. It was like trying to cut Jell-O with a butter knife. Finally, I managed to cut out two large pieces, roughly in the shape of a dress front and back.
- Tape it together. I started taping the pieces together at the shoulders and sides. This was also a mess. The tape kept sticking to itself, and the plastic was bunching up. It looked more like a crumpled-up trash bag than a dress. It was a difficult process.
- Try it on. I know, I know, I’m not a model. But I had to see if this thing even remotely resembled a dress. It didn’t. I looked like I was wrapped in plastic wrap, ready to be stored in the fridge. It was hilarious. I put it on and started to laugh.
Giving Up
I tried to adjust it, to make it look somewhat decent. I really did. I added more tape, tried to smooth out the wrinkles, but it was no use. It was just a big, crinkly, see-through mess.
So, I gave up. I took it off, threw it in the trash, and decided that see-through fashion is definitely not for me. I respect the people who can make it work, but it’s just too much trouble.
But hey, at least I tried, right? It was a fun experiment, even if it was a total failure. Maybe I’ll stick to regular clothes from now on.
