Saturn Cocktail Recipe: Learn How to Mix This Classic Tiki Drink at Home!

Yesterday, I tried making this drink called a Saturn. I saw some stuff online about it, sounded pretty space-age and cool, so I figured, why not give it a shot?

First, I had to gather all the stuff to make it. It was a bit of a scavenger hunt, to be honest. I already had some gin, but then I went to a few different stores to find other things I needed, like passion fruit syrup and something called “orgeat.” I’d never even heard of orgeat before! Turns out, it’s some kind of almond syrup thing.

After rounding everything up, I got out my blender. The recipe I was using said to use crushed ice, but I just used regular ice cubes. I also found out that I needed a lemon and a lime, so I sliced those up.

  • I poured in the gin first.
  • Then I added in the passion fruit syrup. It smelled really good, kind of tropical.
  • Next, I squeezed in the juice from the lemon and lime.
  • I added the orgeat and another thing called Velvet Falernum.
  • Finally, I tossed in a handful of ice.

I blended the whole thing up until it was nice and slushy. It looked pretty cool, all frothy and light-colored. I poured it into a glass, and I gotta say, it tasted pretty darn good! It was sweet, a little tart, and definitely had that tropical vibe. I felt like I was on a beach somewhere, even though I was just in my kitchen.

It was a fun little experiment. Maybe not something I’d make every day, but definitely worth trying. I think next time, I might try making it with a slightly different gin, just to see how it changes the flavor. There are so many different kinds, it might be cool to try out some different combos!
