Okay, here’s my take on the “John Galliano Fall 2009” experience, written in a casual, personal blog style:

So, I got this crazy idea the other day. I was flipping through some old fashion magazines, and BAM! There it was – John Galliano’s Fall 2009 collection. Totally bonkers, totally theatrical, and I just had to try and recreate a tiny piece of it. I mean, who wouldn’t want to feel like they’re stepping out of a historical painting, right?
The Deep Dive
First things first, I needed to watch that runway show. I hunted it down, replayed the whole thing, and started to get this feel of that time’s fashion. I mean, the makeup alone was a whole project in itself! Super dramatic eyes, pale skin, and those intense, dark lips. It was like a history lesson and a makeup tutorial all rolled into one.
Gathering the Goods
Next, I dug through my closet. I’m no fashion designer, obviously, but I figured I could cobble together something that gave off the same vibe. I found this old, flowy black dress – it had that sort of romantic, slightly gothic thing going on. Then, I grabbed a bunch of scarves and shawls. The key, I figured, was layering. Galliano’s looks were all about volume and texture.
The Transformation Begins
I started draping stuff. Seriously, I just wrapped and pinned and tied things until I felt like I was getting somewhere. It was total chaos, to be honest. Fabric everywhere, safety pins flying… I definitely poked myself a few times. But hey, no pain, no gain, right?
I used one scarf as a sort of makeshift headwrap, trying to get that slightly “undone” look that a lot of the models had. Then I piled on a few more, creating this big, dramatic silhouette. It felt a little ridiculous, but in a good way. Like I was playing dress-up, but on a whole other level.

The Makeup Madness
Then came the makeup. I’m no pro, but I watched a few tutorials online and gave it my best shot. I used a pale foundation, loads of black eyeliner, and this deep burgundy lipstick I almost forgot I owned. I even tried to contour my cheekbones to get that sharp, almost skeletal look. It felt weird, but also kind of…powerful?
The Final Result (and Verdict)
- It was the makeup that brought drama!
- And the scarf I used really brought the whole look.
Okay, so I didn’t look exactly like I’d stepped off the Galliano runway. But honestly? I didn’t care. It was so much fun to just experiment and try something totally different. It’s good to let my mind run sometimes!
Would I wear this look out to the grocery store? Probably not. But it definitely gave me a new appreciation for the artistry of high fashion. And it reminded me that sometimes, it’s good to just let loose and get a little creative, even if it’s just in your living room with a pile of scarves and some old makeup.
