So, I got thinking about Naomi Campbell on the runway back in the 90s the other day. Just popped into my head. That whole look, the walk, the attitude. Different times, right?
I decided I wanted to really go back and watch some of that stuff properly. Not just the famous photos you see everywhere. I wanted the actual runway clips. The raw footage if I could find it. So, I started digging.
Fired up the computer and just started searching. Typed in all sorts of stuff. “Naomi Campbell 90s walk”, “Naomi runway Versace 199_ whatever year”, “Azzedine Alaia Naomi show”. Went through page after page.
It’s harder than you’d think! Lots of clips are shaky, bad quality, or just super short edits. You find tons of compilations, but finding specific full shows, or even just longer, clearer clips of her walking for certain designers? Takes some real sifting.

- Even tried searching some old fashion forum archives I remembered.
It’s funny, the process reminded me of something else entirely. Like trying to find an old recipe I scribbled down years ago. You know you wrote it down, you know the key ingredients, but finding that specific scrap of paper in a box full of other stuff? That takes effort.
Digging Through the Past
It actually brought back memories of sorting through my dad’s old workshop after he retired. He kept everything. Boxes full of nuts, bolts, half-finished projects, tools I didn’t even recognise. He knew where everything was, of course. But for me? Took days to sort through it all. Found some cool old things, but mostly just realised how much stuff we accumulate.
Same feeling searching for these old runway clips. You wade through so much digital clutter. But then you find a gem. A clear clip of her in that iconic Todd Oldham look, or powering down the runway for Isaac Mizrahi. And the walk. Man, nobody walks like that anymore. That controlled power, it’s something else.
So yeah, spent a good afternoon just digging through the digital past. Found some great moments, reminded myself how amazing that era was for fashion, and how incredible Naomi was (and still is, let’s be real). It wasn’t a quick search, took some patience, but finding those specific moments felt pretty satisfying in the end. Like finding that one perfect screw in my dad’s old boxes that you needed for a job.
