Okay, so “melania levis” – sounds fancy, right? I had no clue what it was, but it popped up in my feed, and the picture looked cool. So I decided to dive in.

First Steps: What IS It?
First, I tried to figure out what this even was. I Googled it, and it turned out to be some kind of plant, maybe a succulent? The images were all these close-ups of super detailed, almost geometric leaves. Intrigued.
The Hunt Begins
Now that I had a vague idea, I wanted to see if I could find one. I tried a couple of local nurseries, no luck. I asked around on a few plant forums online. Most people hadn’t heard of it, or said it was super rare.
Getting My Hands Dirty (Almost)
- I spent a few hours browsing online stores that specialized in rare plants. Found a few listings, but they were either crazy expensive or out of stock.
- I found out, it’s often propagated by leaf cuttings, which sounded kind of complicated to me.
- One forum user suggested checking a specific online auction site. Bingo!
Victory (Sort Of)
I found a seller on that auction site. They had a small “melania levis” cutting for a reasonable price. I bid on it, and after a few days of nail-biting, I won!.
The Waiting Game
The cutting arrived in the mail a week later. It was tiny! I carefully potted it in a small pot with some well-draining soil, following the instructions I found online. I placed It in my plant corner with good indirect light. Now, all I have to do is wait and hope it grows. Wish me luck! I’ll be sure to update my new baby plant’s growing record with you guys. Don’t hesitate to give suggestions.
