Okay, so, I saw this picture of Mariah Carey’s dress, the sparkly one, you know? And I thought, “I gotta try to recreate that vibe.” Not, like, make the dress, but get the look.
First, I scoured my closet. I was looking for anything with sequins, glitter, or even just a shimmery fabric. I found this old top I wore to a New Year’s Eve party like, five years ago. It’s not the same, obviously, but it’s got that sparkly thing going on.
The Hunt for Sparkle
- Dug through old clothes.
- Found a sequined top.

Then came the styling. I paired the top with some simple black pants. I figured, the top is the star, so I don’t want anything else to compete with it. I didn’t want to go full-on gown, so pants felt more… me.
Next up: hair and makeup. I tried to channel that Mariah glam. I’m no makeup artist, so I kept it pretty basic. I went for a smoky eye, some highlighter, and a nude lip. For my hair,I just do a simple thing.
Finally, I added some jewelry. Big, dangly earrings, of course. I also found a sparkly bracelet that matched the top pretty well.
The end result? Well, it’s definitely not the same as Mariah’s dress, but I think I captured some of the essence. It’s sparkly, it’s glamorous, and it makes me feel like a diva. Mission accomplished, I guess!
