Okay, folks, let’s talk about Jean-Paul Goude today. I bumped into this name a while back, and the dude’s work is just wild. I mean, seriously, it’s out there. So, naturally, I got curious and wanted to see if I could mess around and create something in his style.

First thing I did was just look at a ton of his stuff. I mean, I spent hours just scrolling through images, checking out his ads, his photography, everything. He’s got this way of stretching and distorting people, making them look almost like cartoons but still kinda real, you know? It’s bizarre, but also kinda awesome.
After I felt like I had a decent grasp on his style, I started to sketch. I just grabbed a pencil and some paper and started doodling. I tried to exaggerate features, lengthen limbs, play with proportions. It was messy, and honestly, a lot of it looked pretty terrible at first, But it was very enjoyable.
Then, I thought, “Why not try this digitally?” So I fired up my old tablet and opened Photoshop. I took some old photos I had lying around and started to experiment. I used the Liquify tool a lot, that’s for sure. Pushing and pulling, stretching and squashing until things started to look interesting. It is really fun to make it.
Getting the Hang of It
It took a while, but I started to get a feel for it. The key, I realized, is to not be afraid to push things too far. With Goude’s work, it’s all about exaggeration. It is really hard to get the balance.
- Embrace the absurd.
- Don’t worry about making things look “realistic.”
- Just go for it!
I’m still no Jean-Paul Goude, obviously. I have much more to learn. But it’s been a fun ride so far, and I’m definitely going to keep playing around with this style. It’s just so different and out there, it’s hard not to love it. Maybe I will be good at it someday. And it makes me happy when I get some good effect.

Anyway, if you’re looking for something new to try, I definitely recommend giving this a shot. It’s a great way to break out of your comfort zone and explore a different side of your creativity. Who knows, you might even surprise yourself. I hope you can enjoy it just like I did.
