Alright, let’s talk about that Daniel Lee stuff at Burberry. I kept hearing bits and pieces about it, you know, how things were changing over there after he took the reins. Curiosity got the better of me, so I decided I needed to actually sit down and look at what he was putting out.
So, the first thing I did was just go online. Fired up the computer, typed it in, and started scrolling through the images from the collections. Didn’t really have any big expectations, just wanted to see it with my own eyes, not just read what others were saying.
My First Look Through
Right off the bat, the colors hit me. Very different from what I usually picture with Burberry. Lots of bright blues, greens, even some purples and yellows. Wasn’t the usual beige and black everywhere, that’s for sure. It felt louder, maybe younger?
Then I looked closer at the check pattern. It wasn’t the classic one all the time. Sometimes it was bigger, sometimes the colors were skewed, like that bright blue check. Took me a minute to adjust, honestly. It’s iconic, that pattern, so seeing it messed with felt a bit strange at first.

There was a lot of outerwear focus, which makes sense for a British brand. Saw some field jackets, duffle coats too. They looked practical enough, which is something I always appreciate. You need clothes you can actually wear, right?
There were also these sort of quirky motifs popping up, like ducks and roses. Didn’t quite know what to make of that initially. Seemed a bit playful, maybe trying to inject some humor?
And the accessories, yeah, the bags looked chunkier, more functional perhaps. The shoes too, saw some boots and trainers that looked pretty sturdy.
Trying to Make Sense of It
After scrolling through a couple of collections, I just sat back and thought about it. It definitely felt like a shift. It wasn’t just tweaking things; it felt like a proper new chapter. Lee was clearly putting his own stamp on it, moving away from the very polished look of the previous designer.
Did I love everything? Probably not. Some of the really bright color combinations or the super oversized checks felt a bit much for me personally. But I could see the attempt to inject some energy and maybe appeal to a different crowd.
It felt very… British, but maybe a different side of Britishness? A bit more rugged, a bit more everyday, less high-society London, if that makes sense. More about being out in the weather.
So yeah, that was my process. Just digging in, looking at the pictures, trying to get a feel for it myself. It’s definitely different, made me rethink what Burberry is, or could be. Whether it’s better or worse? Time will tell, I guess. But it was interesting to see the change happening firsthand, just by looking through the designs.
