Alright, let’s gab about these…uh…guy crop tops. I ain’t never seen nothin’ like it, but them young folks, they always up to somethin’ new, ain’t they?
Now, I hear tell these crop tops for fellas are gettin’ real popular. Popular like a pie-eatin’ contest at the county fair, I reckon. Someone said on that there internet thingy, the one with all the videos, that searches for “cropped shirts” and “cropped tops” for men are way up. Don’t ask me the numbers, I can’t remember all them figures, but it was a whole bunch, like a whole field of corn stalks.
Seems like these young’uns are wearin’ ’em all sorts of ways. Some got bold prints, like them Hawaiian shirts old Mr. Johnson used to wear, only shorter. Others are just plain colors, nothin’ fancy. I seen one fella on the… the picture board…Pinterest, I think they call it… wearin’ one with jeans, looked kinda like he was ready to work the fields, but with less shirt, you know?
- Now, how to wear ’em? Well, that’s the question, ain’t it?
- Some say ya gotta get a bigger shirt, then chop it off.
- Others say ya gotta find one that sits right at your waist, above your belly button.
- And if you’re a bit, uh, rounder, like me, they say ya gotta wear high-waisted jeans to hold things in. Heard tell ya gotta wear jeans that “hug the lower part of your tummy,” whatever that means. Sounds uncomfortable to me.
And shoes? Well, seems like anything goes. Some wear ’em with sneakers, some with boots, and some even with them high-heeled shoes women wear. Can you imagine? A fella in a crop top and high heels? Land sakes, the world’s gone crazy!
I also heard some singer fella, can’t recall his name, told all the boys to start wearin’ crop tops. Guess that’s why they’re so popular now. Young folks listen to them singers, even if they’re singin’ about cuttin’ up their shirts.
Now, I ain’t one to judge. People can wear what they want, long as they ain’t scandalizin’ the neighborhood. But I gotta say, it’s a bit odd seein’ fellas walkin’ around with their bellies showin’. Back in my day, men wore shirts that covered their whole torso, and then some. Kept ’em warm in the winter and protected from the sun in the summer.
But times change, I guess. And fashion changes with ’em. What was once for the ladies is now for the fellas, and what was for the fellas is now… well, I don’t even know anymore. It’s all a bit confusing if you ask me. But hey, if they’re happy wearin’ ’em, more power to ’em, I say. Just don’t come complainin’ to me when your belly gets cold!
One thing’s for sure, this whole crop top thing is stirrin’ up a lot of talk. Some folks think it’s great, a way to express yourself, they say. Others think it’s just plain silly, or even worse, inappropriate. They say it ain’t proper for men to be showin’ off so much skin, especially not in certain places, like church or work. And some folks are worried about what it does to young people’s ideas about their bodies. Makes ‘em think too much about how they look, maybe.
Me? I just think it’s somethin’ new, somethin’ different. And like most new things, it’ll probably fade away eventually, like them bell-bottom pants from the ’70s. Remember those? Lord, those were somethin’. But for now, the boys are wearin’ crop tops, and there ain’t much we can do about it. Just gotta shake your head and chuckle, I reckon. The world’s a funny place, ain’t it?
So, if you’re a fella thinkin’ about tryin’ a crop top, well, go ahead. Just make sure it fits right, and maybe don’t wear it to your grandma’s house for Sunday dinner, unless she’s a whole lot cooler than me.
