Okay, so I decided to tackle a Fiona Shrek costume. I’ve always loved the Shrek movies, and Fiona is just such a cool, strong character. Plus, her outfits are pretty iconic.

Getting Started
First things first, I brainstormed which version of Fiona I wanted to do. Human? Ogre? I went with her classic green dress look – gotta love the classics!
I gathered some reference images online, just to get all the details right. You know, the shape of the dress, the sleeves, the neckline…all that stuff.
The Dress
The biggest part was, obviously, the dress. I’m not the best seamstress, so I opted to find a basic green dress that I could modify. I scoured some thrift stores and finally found a long, simple green dress that was a pretty good starting point.
- I took in the sides a bit to make it more fitted, since Fiona’s dress is pretty form-fitting.
- Then I added some gold trim around the neckline and the sleeves. I just used some gold ribbon and fabric glue – easy peasy!
- I made puffy part on the sleeve, and I used some extra fabric.
The Accessories
You can’t be Fiona without the accessories!
- I found these cute gold earings.
- The headband.
The Hair
Fiona’s got that long, red braid. I have to buy a wig,and I braided it myself.
Putting It All Together
The big moment! I put on the dress, the wig, and the accessories,I looked myself,It is a great Fiona.
It was a lot of fun putting this costume together, and it actually turned out way better than I expected! Sometimes the simplest approach is the best. I learned that even if you’re not a pro at sewing, you can still create something awesome with a little creativity and some basic supplies.
